Description
Bella is an approximately 3 year old female dog originally from Romania. Bella came into our care as part of the removal of 10 dogs from a welfare case. It is unknown how long Bella had been living at this property for.
Bella spent approximately a week at a boarding kennels before moving to OSH. She was taken to the vets and treated for mange and fleas. She has limited hair of the lower half of her body which is due to stress scratching. Bella was also underweight. her vaccinations have been restarted as it was unclear if she was vaccinated or not.
Bella was kept in a kennel by herself but then moved into a kennel with Alfie. They have been fine in a kennel. Another dog did move into the kennel with them but they did not get on and were separated. It is felt that Bella is dog selective.
After Alfie left Bella’s reactivity to dogs increased. Bella has redirected onto staff members multiple times when walking the kennel line.
Bella has shared no signs of prey drive but is reactive to other dogs so we feel a pet free home will be more comfortable for her.
Bella has now been in foster home for 5 months now. She is reactive with new visitors, but she does calm down however is generally quite nervous. She has growled but never bitten. Using a safe space when people enter the home will work well for her. She does not show any reactivity over food or toys. Once Bella is comfortable with people she is very happy and could live with older dog savvy children, although a generally quieter home with fewer visitors would be best. Bella has not shown a prey drive but due to her being reactive a pet free home would be best. She has got better with dogs she is familiar with potentially she could live with another calm dog but would need multiple meets as she can be dog selective. She is reactive to dogs whilst on walks. As with any dog meeting new animals, children or adults slow and sensible meets should be in place.
Bella accepts a collar an harness, as well as a slip lead. She is strong and can pull fairly hard. She is reactive to dogs on walks, and she is largely nervous of people. She will sometimes pull away to avoid people walking past.
She isn’t reactive or bothered by traffic, or bikes or anything like that. Bella travels well in the car.
Bella currently struggles to be alone, being left for up to an hour but can bark and jump up at the window. She can be distressed upon someone coming home and will need someone who is around much of the time.
Bella is quiet at night, sleeps in her bed in the living room. Comes to wake me when she needs to go out which is only once a night now. Usually around 7am.

Bella is an affectionate love bug, she is very intelligent, quick and eager to learn. Loves her walks, sniffs her way around everywhere including the house and garden. Started playing with soft toys but gets bored of them quickly.
Has quickly figured out a puzzle tray containing treats and enjoys any interactive toys. Loves her licky mat and Kong. Lets you know when she wants to go ‘peepee’ by going to the door and scratching, if you don’t notice she will give a little woof or a tap. Off the lead in the garden she does zoomies, is fast and has a terrific jump, would be great at something like dog agility.
She is very reactive when anyone approaches my house or next door, barks frantically. Bella has improved over her time in foster a lot and will need continued work to help her settle. She has attended training classes and done really well with the training and become friendly with some of the dogs there. She lacks confidence and likes reassurance. She is very nosey and will look out the window for hours. She is a special girl that is very loving when she knows you.
