Description
Poppy is a beautiful 1-year-old chocolate Dachshund who is now ready to find her forever home đ
She has sadly had a difficult start in life and came from an abusive background, which means she can be very shy and nervous when meeting new people.
However, since coming into our care,
Poppy has made fantastic progress. With patience and kindness, she is beginning to trust and will happily sit beside you, enjoying gentle fuss and cuddles.
⨠About Poppy:
⢠1 year old female Dachshund
⢠Fully vaccinated and microchipped
⢠Not yet neutered (neutering will be required as part of the adoption agreement)
⢠Small breed
đ Temperament:
Poppy is a gentle and sensitive little girl who needs time to build trust. Once she feels safe, her playful side comes throughâshe loves toys and enjoys playing, especially when she has another small dog around to help her feel secure.
She is still nervous of leads, collars, and harnesses, so will need a slow and patient introduction using positive reinforcement.

Cons
Not the best choice for first time owners because Dachshunds often have a mind of their own
Care must be taken with puppies because they must not be allowed to jump up or down from anywhere because it could damage their backs and joints
They are prone to putting on too much weight if not given enough daily exercise
The breed is known to suffer from quite a few health concerns so vet bills can be high and why pet insurance is so important for anyone owning a Dachshund
