It’s with an extremely heavy heart that we’re looking to rehome our gorgeous 7 month old Collie/Kelpie, Esme. This is honestly one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to write. Esme is an absolute character, loving, loyal, hilarious and quite frankly a full time job. Due to a change in circumstances, we unfortunately can’t give her the time, training and attention she needs and deserves. Esme will steal your food, your toys, your clothes and probably your personal space, but mostly she’ll steal your heart. She is extremely energetic and very vocal. She barks at quite literally everything, although we’re pretty sure she’s just got a lot to say. She jumps up, gets very excited and has absolutely no concept of the phrase “calm down”. She needs someone who can match her energy but more importantly, someone who has the time and patience to help her learn how to control it. She is not completely house trained yet, so this is something her new family will need to continue working on with her. She is still only 7 months old and has lots of learning to do. She has been raised alongside our toddler and is used to children, although she does occasionally mouth when excited. She’s lived with another dog and is good with other dogs. Being part herding breed, she is also incredibly loyal and will happily follow you absolutely everywhere, yes, including the bathroom. She LOVES to play, especially tug and fetch, and would thrive with someone who can give her plenty of exercise, stimulation, training and attention. Esme is still such a young girl with so much potential. She’s not a perfectly behaved dog. She’s a chaotic, excitable, stubborn little menace at times, but she is also incredibly loving, affectionate and loyal, and we know there is a wonderful dog underneath all that madness. This is not a decision we’re making lightly. We absolutely adore her and it genuinely breaks our hearts to let her go. We just have to put her needs before our own and find her a home where she can get the life, time and attention she deserves. We’re looking for someone who genuinely understands Collies, Kelpies or high energy working breeds and is prepared for the commitment that comes with one. Esme needs someone who will love her chaos, not try to squash it. Please only message if you’re serious about giving her a permanent, loving home.
