Description

Kevin is a young Belgian Malinois with lots of energy and potential, but he needs a home that has experience with working breeds and can give him the time, training and structure he needs. He came to us after a poor start in life and has made progress in some areas, but we have realised that we cannot meet his needs alongside a busy household with several children. Kevin is affectionate and enjoys playing, but he becomes overexcited. He jumps up, mouths and has nipped children during play. On two occasions he has left bruising, although this appeared to happen through overexcitement rather than aggression. Because of this, he must not be rehomed to a family with young children. He also needs further work on recall and impulse control, particularly outdoors. This is an incredibly difficult decision, but our children’s safety has to come first. We want Kevin to have the best chance in a home where he can receive the training, exercise and consistency that a Belgian Malinois requires. We will only consider homes with people who understand the breed and are prepared to continue his training. We want him to have a safe, loving and permanent home, so please only enquire if you genuinely have the experience and commitment he needs.
