Obi – Looking for His Forever Home It breaks our hearts to be writing this, but due to the breakdown of our relationship we have made the incredibly difficult decision to find Obi a new home. When we bought Obi as a puppy, we were told he was a Cocker Spaniel x Border Collie. We can definitely see those traits in him, although we believe he may have other breeds in his mix too. The Good Stuff ❤️ Obi is an incredibly loving, affectionate boy. Once he trusts you, he absolutely adores being with his people. If he could climb inside your skin for cuddles, he probably would! He has endless energy and loves long walks, playing fetch with a ball or stick, and carrying his toys around. He’s fully toilet trained and crate trained, and is happy settling in his crate when needed. He has lived with another dog before and got on well, so we believe he could happily live with another friendly dog again. Obi is fantastic with our two young boys. He loves attention, cuddles and being fussed over, and has never shown any aggression towards them or anyone else. His recall is very good when there aren’t other people around, and he enjoys being off lead where it’s safe to do so. Things His New Family Should Know Obi is a naturally anxious dog and has been since he was a puppy. He has a particular fear of balloons and carrier bags, despite us trying to desensitise him over the last year. He is also bark-reactive towards unfamiliar people, particularly when out on walks and off lead. We genuinely believe this comes from fear and anxiety rather than aggression. He has never bitten anyone and has never shown aggressive behaviour, but he can be loud when he’s unsure of someone. For this reason, Obi would thrive with someone who understands anxious dogs and is willing to continue building his confidence with patience, consistency and kindness. The Home We’re Looking For More than anything, we just want Obi to have the happy life he deserves. This decision has absolutely broken our hearts, but with our family circumstances changing, we know it isn’t fair on him. We aren’t looking for just any home—we’re looking for the right home. Someone who will love him as much as we do, be patient with his anxieties, and give him the exercise, affection and security he needs. We want no monetary gain from this, our goal is to find our dog the right home.
