Description

Darcy, d.o.b. 2/1/25, 23kg’s, Staffy. Lilac toned pale faun colour. Darcy is an absolutely lovely long legged Staffy with bundles of personality and the usual staffy traits. Think zero personal space, using you as a cushion, sofa hogging, destroying all forms of bedding, snoring, farting and don’t forget the typical staffy vocal expertise!! Licking is a given, whether you like it or not. She is a jumper and will jump up at all visitors so we crate her when people arrive and introduce her once she has calmed down. She assumes that every visitor is for her and can be quite vocal to make sure everyone knows she is there. She is crate trained and generally good at sitting, she takes food from your hands really gently and is very good at making sure nothing you drop goes to waste! Will do anything for some banana. Pulls a bit on the lead which we have tried various types of harness and lead and training but she still does it, although she is much better when she is on her own. She enjoys eating plants and flowers!! She is up to date with all her immunisations, flee and worming treatments and vet checks. We have had Darcy from 12 weeks of age and she has been a good addition to our household for us, but not so much for our older female Staffy. Initially our older girl was very good with Darcy, almost treating her like a daughter but as Darcy got older and bigger things started to change. Darcy has no concept of a time out and our old girl has started to react to Darcy in a negative way. To the point where there are arguments over treats and food even though they both get exactly the same. We paid a lot of money to have Darcy spayed via a laparoscopic procedure due to her bouncy nature, there was no way she was going to not chew her wound or pull it open when bouncing around. We thought that would help their relationship but sadly 7 plus months later things are not improving and we are concerned that if we don’t re home Darcy one of them is going to get hurt and we don’t want that for either girl. Regarding other dogs, Darcy is very good and enjoys playtime, her recall is pretty good as long as she knows you have something tasty she will come back. She will thrive as the only dog but will settle with a male dog that can teach her boundaries, cats are a different matter, she thinks they are to be played with and tries to pick them up in her mouth if she can get close enough irrespective of how much they scratch her!! Think bloodbath!! Darcy loves children but has no idea of her size and weight so she needs strict supervision with them until they are old enough to tell her to go away and you have had her long enough to have built up a good bond and trust. Darcy will come with her crate, a collapsible travel crate for the car and some food to keep her going while she settles in. She is currently on Kanin medium dog dried food. Her harness and lead that she is used to. Darcy is very good at being left at home as long as there is a radio on and she has something to keep her entertained, we will supply some items we use. She can destroy most things!! We will be very choosy with anyone showing interest in Darcy and will require regular updates to see how she is getting on. If you are not prepared to do this please don’t bother to contact us. Darcy is a gorgeous girl and we want the best for her. This is by no means an easy decision and we have really struggled to get this far so please no negative comments.
