Description
Meet Eira!
Eira is one of Holly’s incredible puppies, and her story is one of true strength and survival. Her mum was found just before ****************** by the river - freezing, starving, and doing everything she could to protect her newborn puppies. Thankfully, they were brought into safety, and these pups have since grown up in the shelter where they’ve blossomed into the happy, playful puppies they were always meant to be.
Sadly, when Eira was a few months old, parvo hit the litter, along with others in the shelter, and not every puppy was as lucky. Against the odds, all of Holly’s puppies survived. Eira has shown just how resilient and strong she is, and now she is fully recovered, fighting fit, and ready to find her forever home.
Eira is 9 months old, growing up quickly and developing quite the little personality. Every litter needs a chatterbox and Eira has happily volunteered! When our volunteers approach the pen, Eira comes rushing over with the others. She’ll lick their hands through the bars, take treats and make sure they know she’s there - often with a little commentary of her own.
Eira can be quite vocal when she’s excited and sometimes when feeling unsure too. She’s still a puppy trying to work out some very big feelings in an environment where she hasn’t had the chance to experience much of the outside world. She’s a funny little mixture. From behind the bars she’s saying “HELLO! I’M HERE, PAY ATTENTION TO ME!” Open the door and suddenly it’s “Actually, maybe give me a second.” She will initially retreat and take a moment to work things out but watch what happens when her brother decides everything is okay… Eira watches him and then starts getting brave too.
Other dogs give Eira confidence. She looks to them for reassurance when she’s unsure and is much more willing to investigate something once she’s seen another dog do it first. Because of this, we feel Eira needs another friendly, confident dog in her future home.
Underneath those initial nerves is actually a fairly confident, curious little girl who wants interaction - she’s simply still learning how to manage her excitement and uncertainty. And that’s okay. Eira doesn’t need to arrive in her home knowing exactly how to be a family dog. She needs someone willing to teach her.
Eira is already quite leggy and growing fast, with an expected adult weight of around 30kg. As a larger dog, she will need all the usual puppy training and an adopter who is committed to guiding her through the teenage phase. This stage can be challenging, but with patience and consistency, it leads to an incredibly rewarding bond.
Eira has already overcome more than most, and now she just needs someone to give her the loving home she truly deserves.
