Description
Zorro is a small/medium sized pup who is around 6 months old He was rescued from the streets of Romania along with his 6 siblings and taken into to the care of Pawprints. Zorro remained in our public shelter in Curtea De Arges until December 2025 when he travelled over to our UK kennels He is currently in Our Safe Haven, Essex.
Zorro is vaccinated and microchipped, he is not yet neutered due to his age There is an expectation that his adoptive family will arrange this as soon as he is of an appropriate age. Zorro has no known heath issues
Zorro is a nervous little guy, he is very unsure of new people and will back away when the kennel staff initially enter his space He has never reacted negatively (growling etc) but he may hide
The staff have been actively working on increasing Zorro’s confidence by spending time with him in his kennel and progress is being made He is now approaching cautiously to have a good sniff of his visitors!
His new family need to be aware that this behaviour is not uncommon with Romanian rescues and that time and patience will be needed to build a relationship with Zorro
Zorro is currently kennelled with two other dogs who have been an important part of the progress he has made He definitely takes confidence from them and we would recommend his new home has a calm, canine companion to show him the ropes of home life
He has not shown any food or resource guarding issues and is happy to share treats and toys
Zorro met cats in Romania without incident but he has not met any since his arrival in the UK There have been no reports of a prey drive so he could live with dog savvy cats with slow, sensible introductions
Zorro has never met children and due to his nervous personality we feel he would be best suited to an adult only home or a family with older children We would recommend 14 years and above (12 years plus if dog experienced) who will be respectful of his space and boundaries
Zorro has never lived in a home and is currently not toilet trained He will need support with this as he makes the transition from a kennel environment to a home.
Zorro has not shown any destructive tendencies within the kennel or separation anxiety
He is kennelled from 1900 until 900 the following morning and sleeps well overnight
Zorro has recently accepted a lead and harness, this is not guaranteed every time presently but with some further confidence building work we expect his good progress to continue
He walks with his kennel mates when outside and it has been known for him to have bursts of energy and spin in circles! He can show apprehension with external stimuli such as birds overhead but as his confidence develops and he has more exposure to new situations this should naturally subside.
Zorro has not yet travelled in a car
The kennel staff have the following to say about Zorro :
“Zorro is fine with the dogs he shares a stable with. He gets lots of confidence from them and loves to play with them. He is still a nervous boy, so unsure what his likes and dislikes are at the moment. We’re hoping he will continue to grow in confidence and his true personality will begin to show”
