Description

Ace is an 11 month old neutered male Golden Shepherd looking for a home that can provide the kind of daily enrichment he needs to thrive. Ideally he'd live with at least one other playful dog (after careful introductions as I will explain below), and have a decent sized secure garden to sniff around in as he enjoys being outside more than pretty much anything else. We adopted him 4 months ago from a home with 4 other dogs, where the older intact male had taken a dislike to him. He got on fine with their 3 bitches and seems to just want to play with every dog he has seen here since, and I think he's really missing canine company. Because of my health and the difficulty walking him on a lead (he pulls A LOT and has wriggled out of a couple of different harnesses, and didn't take to halti training), he isn't getting out much to socialise and is getting very frustrated, so may need reminding of his manners initially. If I could afford a house with some land and another dog I would honestly keep him as he is such an affectionate and funny little lad in every other way. He's also lived with a young child in his previous home and has been brilliant with my nephew the few times they've met, so I think he'd make a lovely family dog once he'd settled into a new routine and was getting all his needs met. He does need a bit of a refresher on some training (leave it, wait, etc) and a clear routine for when it is time to play vs when he needs to settle quietly, but he is obviously very clever and will not take long to pick this up with consistent teaching. He does have some food sensitivites which I'm happy to discuss, and the vets advised to keep him slim for his hips, but he's otherwise healthy. We're eager for him to go somewhere more suited to his needs as soon as possible, but will be asking a lot of questions first to make sure it's a good fit for everyone, as the last thing I want is for him to be let down again.
