Description
This is incredibly hard for me to write.
Diesel is a pup from my own dog’s litter. He was originally sold but was returned to me through no fault of his own. Unfortunately, he did not get the best start in his first home and was not properly looked after, so I took him back to ensure he was safe.
Since having him back, I have done everything I can to give him stability and structure again. However, with a baby due in around 10 weeks, I have to make a responsible decision about what is best for him long-term and make sure he has the time, attention and stability he deserves.
Recent Update
Diesel was recently rehomed after two meetings in an enclosed field. During the first meeting he was quite barky and growly at the start and did jump up a few times, but with slow introductions, walking and toys he settled down well. At the second meeting he was again barky and growly initially, but once he was away from the field and in the car he settled quickly.
Unfortunately the home has not worked out through no fault of Diesel. As he started settling in and becoming cuddly and affectionate, the new owner experienced a severe allergic reaction. They have asthma and were struggling to breathe, so sadly Diesel has had to return to me and the advert has now been reopened.
Everything else in this advert remains the same.
About Diesel
• Standard Bully x Collie
• Born 25/03/2025
• Neutered
• Microchipped
• Fully toilet trained (used to having access to a garden)
• Raised around other dogs
Diesel is naturally very timid and shy with new people. When he first meets someone he can bark and growl while also wagging his tail. This is not aggression — it is nervousness and confusion while he tries to figure out if he is safe.
He does not usually warm up within a few minutes. He needs time and space to decompress and build trust, which can take a couple of days in a new environment. When I am around he will often come back to me for reassurance, which is why it is important his new home allows him time to settle without pressure.
Once he does feel safe, he completely changes. He becomes incredibly affectionate, cuddly and loyal and will bond very strongly with his person.
He can be more nervous of men initially, but once he trusts them they often become his favourite people.
Behaviour to Be Aware Of
I want to be fully honest so that only the right home comes forward.
• He can bark at the window when he sees people or dogs outside
• He can sometimes bark at people or dogs on walks, although not every time
• He is a nervous dog, so confidence building and patience are important
• He has a habit of trying to steal and chew socks if they are left around
Even during the short time he spent with the recent home he had already started improving with his barking, which shows he is capable of progress with the right person and consistency.
What He Needs
• A secure garden (this is essential)
• A patient, experienced home
• Someone willing to give him time to decompress and settle properly
• Someone committed to continuing his confidence building
• Slow, calm introductions if living with other dogs
He has always lived around other dogs and this can work again, but introductions must be gradual and sensible.
Why I’m Rehoming
I did not plan to have him back long-term. When he was returned, I stepped up because it was the right thing to do. I have tried to make it work, but with a newborn due very soon I need to be realistic about the level of time, structure and attention he deserves.
This decision is about responsibility, not convenience.
Diesel really is a good dog who simply didn’t get the best start. With the right home he will thrive.
The right person will see past those first nervous days and realise Diesel is actually a very loving, loyal dog who just needs patience and understanding to show his true personality.
Important
Homes will be vetted.
I will ask questions.
I will not let him go to just anyone.
Please only enquire if you are serious, patient and willing to commit to giving Diesel the time he needs to settle and build trust. I have around 10 weeks until my baby arrives and I want to make sure his next home is truly his forever home.
Please if you have any questions drop me a message on here or for a quicker response my number is ************
I now have under 3 weeks to find him a good home or I will need to ask a rehoming charity to help and I don’t want this for him
