Winnie Is as bombproof as you can get out hacking and is sound in even the heaviest of traffic - including farm machinery, irrigators, lorries, tractors etc. She is the sort you can put absolutely anyone on out hacking and bring them home safe! She is a genuine confidence giver out hacking and will hack out alone or happily hang out at the back in company!
She is the sweetest little mare in the field and the first to greet you, she will follow you around like a dog when muck picking and loves a good scratch.
In the school Winnie is still green and off the lead rein , and can occasionally take advantage of a little one. For this reason she would possibly not suit a complete novice rider off the lead rein. She has recently, regularly been ridden by a 12 year old whom has been schooling her and she has been coming on lovely, likes pole work and will pop a small jump. She has been to pleasure rides, where there have been large groups of horses around her doing different things and has been foot perfect, and has never bucked, reared or bolted with us, she has a lovely snaffle mouth.
she is fantastic on the lead rein and would happily carry any little one safely around all day long. In one of her previous homes she was a trusted lead rein pony for an autistic child. She would also make a fantastic second pony for a more confident child, teenager or small lightweight adult.
She is good to load, travel, farrier, catch snd bath, however needs sedation for clipping, and possibly the dentist depending on them as she will fidget. Totally barefoot. Up to date with everything.
I brought Winnie for myself a couple of months ago, having horses myself for over 40 years. I am 61 now and do have trouble mounting her has have arthritis in my knees, she will stand then fidget at a mounting block at home and and there is no way she will stand for me to get on whilst l am out if l have to get off, she is very intelligent and this has now escalated that l am unable to mount her at home (plus feel l am possibly a bit to big for her, has she has been used to children) the 12 year old has no trouble mounting her, as does a younger friend of mine. This is something l feel would be an easy fix for a younger person
Otherwise she is very easy to do in every way, although she can sometimes pull a few faces when girthing up - nothing nasty, just typical mare behaviour. I have an older mare whom l breed, whom has done this all her life also.
Because of the above l am offering her at less than l paid for her as want to find her the right home, she will come with a bridle and the saddle her previous owners had fitted to her which l brought off them.
