🧸 About Stella
Stella is the sister of Trixie, who has now been adopted, and Brownie, who is currently still in foster with us
The three siblings had a very unusual start to life in North Macedonia. When they were tiny puppies, their mum had hidden them away beneath rocks to keep them safe. They were eventually found and rescued, but because of their circumstances they went on to spend much of their early lives in a private kennel/boarding environment.
Although they were safe and cared for, it meant they missed out on many of the ordinary experiences puppies would usually have, living inside a home, meeting lots of different people, going on walks, hearing household noises and learning that the wider world is nothing to be frightened of.
That early start helps explain why Stella can initially be shy, cautious and watchful in new situations. She needs time to observe, work out that she is safe and choose to come closer when she is ready.
Her previous carer in Macedonia told us she didn’t have enough beautiful words to describe Stella. After bringing her into her home before Stella travelled to the UK, she was amazed by how quickly Stella began adapting to normal home life.
She chose herself a cosy bed, slept peacefully through the night, followed the other dogs into the garden and very quickly began seeking out her carer’s company.
She would follow her into the bedroom to settle beside her, greet her with a wagging tail and even offer her paw when she wanted more affection. 🥹
Since arriving in foster with us, we’re beginning to see exactly the same nature coming through!!
💛 Her Personality
Stella is gentle, sensitive, observant and incredibly sweet.
She’s also becoming our little morning welcoming committee. 😂
Once everyone starts moving around for the day, Stella wants to know what’s happening and if food is involved?
Suddenly she becomes very brave 😂
She LOVES treats, chicken and snacks, food has already become a handy tool for helping her build positive associations with us and with new experiences.
She wants connection she just needs the time and space to trust
Other dogs in the home are incredibly important to Stella. She is extremely submissive and gentle with them and naturally looks to them for reassurance. She watches what confident dogs do and uses their behaviour to work out whether a situation is safe.
She plays with our Dobie in the garden, follows our dogs about, she has adjusted to our pack easily, which is why Stella will only be homed with another friendly, confident resident dog.
Because Stella is still sensitive and building confidence, we feel she would be best suited to calm, dog savvy children aged 8+ who understand when to give her space and allow her to approach in her own time.
She has not been cat tested, so we wouldn’t want to make any promises around cats at this stage.

When she was in Macedonia she was treated for heart worm and is now a very healthy girl!
