Meet Robin!
Robin is one of Holly’s incredible puppies, and his story is one of true strength and survival. His mum was found just before ****************** by the river - freezing, starving, and doing everything she could to protect her newborn puppies. Thankfully, they were brought into safety, and these pups have since grown up in the shelter where they’ve blossomed into the happy, playful puppies they were always meant to be.
Sadly, when the pups were a few months old, parvo hit the shelter and not every puppy was as lucky. Against the odds, all of Holly’s puppies survived. Robin has shown just how resilient and strong he is, and now he is fully recovered, fighting fit, and ready to find his forever home - although he was so poorly it took longer than his siblings. We are so hopeful he will go on to live the long, happy life that many puppies affected by parvo sadly never get the chance to have.
Now at 9 months old, that tiny poorly puppy has grown into the most confident of his siblings and a boy who gets ridiculously excited when our volunteers arrive! As soon as he spots them, Robin comes rushing to the front of the pen with the others. He’ll lick hands through the bars, happily take treats and make it very clear that he would like some attention! When someone enters the pen, Robin may initially step away but he’s normally the first of his litter to work up the courage to come back over for a fuss. Once Robin decides something is safe, you’ll often find his siblings following his example.
He’s playful, sociable and gets along with other dogs around him. Robin could happily share his future with a suitable resident dog, but because he’s a confident little character, we also feel he could potentially live as an only dog with a family who can give him plenty of time, attention and guidance.
Robin has already fought incredibly hard for the chance to grow up and we don’t want the shelter to be where he does it. He should be discovering walks, sofas, toys, muddy adventures and just how wonderful having a family of your own can be.
Robin is already quite leggy and growing fast, with an expected adult weight of around 30kg. As a larger dog, he will need all the usual puppy training and an adopter who is committed to guiding him through the teenage phase. This stage can be challenging, but with patience and consistency, it leads to an incredibly rewarding bond.
Robin survived parvo, now we need to find him the home he fought so hard to have.
