🐾 Meet Nellie 💗
Nellie has found herself homeless for the third time in her short life — and heartbreakingly, none of it has ever been her fault. Passed from place to place without the stability every dog deserves, we would now love nothing more than for Nellie to finally find the forever home where she can truly settle and be cherished.
She is a beautiful medium-sized girl with a playful spirit, a loving heart, and so much affection to give.
💛 Her Personality
Nellie is affectionate, playful, funny and wonderfully full of life. She absolutely loves people and forms lovely bonds with those around her.
She gets incredibly excited about going for walks and has such a joyful, puppy-like energy when she’s happy. Watching her bounce around excitedly is impossible not to smile at. She is playful, giddy and full of character — a real little entertainer.
Since arriving with us, Nellie has also put on much-needed weight after arriving extremely underweight. It has been lovely watching her begin to feel healthier, stronger and more comfortable in herself again, and we look forward to seeing her continue to flourish in the right home.
She is also a very pretty girl with a lovely feminine energy about her — affectionate, sweet and full of charm.
🧠 Growing in Confidence
Nellie is a sensitive dog who has understandably developed a few insecurities after such an unsettled start in life. She has shown a little bit of reactivity at times, but this is very manageable and clearly comes from uncertainty rather than anything more serious.
She responds very well to calm guidance, reassurance and structure, and we do not feel this will be a significant issue in the future with the right handling and continued support.
Nellie is house trained, loves her people, and truly wants to feel safe and secure again.
🐕 With Other Dogs
Nellie generally gets on well with other dogs and has lovely friendships at the kennels — especially with young Trimi, who she absolutely adores.
However, following an experience in a previous home where another dog was not comfortable with her and Nellie defended herself, we feel that in order to set everybody up for success, Nellie would be happiest as the only dog in the home.
This is not because she dislikes all dogs — quite the opposite. We simply feel she will thrive best in an environment where she can fully relax and not have to navigate those dynamics within the home.
