Jackson – 7-Month-Old Galgo Mix | A Beautiful Boy With So Much Potential ❤️ Meet our gorgeous Jackson – a 7-month-old Galgo mix, although we’re not completely sure whether he is a mix or possibly a pure Galgo. Whatever he is, he is certainly going to be a big, beautiful boy. Jackson is being fostered in Gloucestershire in an adult home with other dogs. This lovely boy was found as a stray in Spain by the rescue we have worked alongside for the past 15 years. I met Jackson back in June and, even then, you could see what a beautiful nature he had. You could also see that he was going to grow into a large dog, and sadly dogs like Jackson can be much harder to home in Spain. After spending time with him, taking him to the vets, watching him with other dogs and seeing him out and about, I knew I had to help him. He was simply too lovely to leave behind. You’ll see some of the videos below from when Jackson was still in Spain and you’ll see exactly why we wanted to bring this special boy into our care. ❤️ Jackson actually had a home lined up for him here in the UK, but unfortunately the resident dog struggled to accept him. It became apparent that the resident dog had some issues around resources which hadn't been known about beforehand, and these became more apparent once Jackson arrived. None of this was Jackson’s fault. So, he is now looking for his forever home – and we really want to get this one right for him. Jackson is, quite honestly, a lovely, straightforward young dog. He is still very much a puppy, but he is well socialised with other dogs and absolutely loves having canine company. He is already jumping happily in and out of the car, is clean in the house and is settling into home life remarkably well. At the moment he has a really good recall and, so far, has shown no signs of wanting to hunt or disappearing off on walks. BUT he is a sighthound and he is only seven months old, so we cannot guarantee that this won't change as he matures. Anyone considering Jackson needs to understand the breed and be prepared for those instincts to potentially develop. Like any puppy, Jackson needs someone who has the time and patience to continue his training, socialisation and education. He needs to learn the rules of home life – including that kitchen worktops are not a self-service buffet! 😂 Counter surfing is a very common sighthound trait and Jackson is already showing that he has discovered this particular hobby. He is otherwise finding home life an absolute breeze. We don't feel Jackson would be suited to being an only dog. He has always had canine company and clearly enjoys it enormously. We would love to find him a home with another friendly, confident dog who would enjoy playing with him but could also be a steady, sensible mentor as he continues to grow up. Jackson still has quite a bit of growing to do. He is currently too young to be neutered, so we will not home him with an entire dog. What we are looking for is someone with the space, time and experience to give this beautiful young boy everything he needs. Someone who understands sighthounds, appreciates that he is still a puppy and is prepared to continue his training and socialisation as he grows. In return, we think Jackson has the potential to become an absolutely wonderful companion. He has such a lovely nature, he adores other dogs and he has already shown us just how quickly he can adapt and learn.
