It breaks my heart to write this, but I am looking for a very special new home for Sammy. Sammy is a lovely adult black cat who I have cared for and loved dearly. He is a very handsome boy with a big personality, and I want to find him a home where his individual needs can be properly understood and where he can be happy and settled. Sammy does have some additional needs which I feel it is important to be completely honest about. He has been diagnosed with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC) and therefore requires a urinary diet. He currently eats Royal Canin Urinary S/O dry food and Hill’s c/d wet food. His new owner would need to be willing and able to continue managing his urinary health and understand that this is an ongoing dietary requirement. Sammy can also display unpredictable biting/aggressive behaviour, particularly towards people, and this is something I have struggled to manage despite trying different approaches. Because of this, I am looking for an experienced cat owner who understands that Sammy may need patience, space and time to settle and who is confident around cats with behavioural challenges. I also feel Sammy may be better suited to a home where he can have safe outdoor access, as I believe he may benefit from having more space and stimulation than I can currently provide. He must, however, be kept safely indoors while settling into any new home and his new owner should make sure any outdoor access is appropriate and safe. This is an extremely difficult decision and I am not looking to rehome Sammy casually. I have contacted a number of rescues because I want what is best for him, but unfortunately most are currently full. I am therefore trying to find an experienced private home while continuing to explore rescue options. I will be completely honest with any potential owner about Sammy’s behaviour, medical history and diet. I would rather take longer to find the right person than rush him into the wrong home. £100 rehoming fee, he will come with his full set up (cat tree, toys, water fountain, litter tray, food and water bowls, and potentially some food to start him off). I would like to speak with potential owners before arranging a meeting and will have questions about your experience with cats, your home and the type of environment you can offer Sammy. Sammy is very loved, and this decision is being made because I genuinely want him to have the best possible quality of life.
