💔 We have a few very unlucky dogs in rescue… Not the easiest dogs perhaps, but absolutely not monsters. Dogs whose struggle to find a forever home is completely out of proportion to their little quirks.
And Dexter is one of them.
He has already lost his original home due to his owner’s declining health. Then he settled into foster, bonded deeply, tried again… and now once more finds himself needing another place to belong.
🐾 Meet Dexter

💔 Surrender Background
Dexter originally came into rescue after his owner became too unwell to care for him.
He later moved into foster, where he settled beautifully and formed a very strong bond. But despite everyone trying hard to make things work, the household dynamics with the resident dog have proven too stressful long-term.
This is not because Dexter is aggressive or difficult. He simply needs a calmer, more predictable environment where he can fully relax and feel secure.
🐾 More About Dexter
Dexter is a truly sweet little dog who would thrive in a quieter home.
He is housetrained, walks beautifully on the lead, waits politely for food and treats, and loves playing with toys before curling up for long snoozes nearby his people. He enjoys adventures and travelling in the car, happily exploring new walking places without needing excessive exercise.
In foster, Dexter bonded very quickly with his main person and has shown signs of separation anxiety after all the upheaval in his life. He may whine or bark when left, but he is not destructive. Given time, patience and stability, this is something that could absolutely improve.
He can also become anxious around unfamiliar people entering his home or space and may bark reactively when unsure. Because of this, he would suit a home with fewer visitors and less coming-and-going.
Truthfully? Dexter is happiest simply curled up on the sofa while his humans quietly go about their day around him.
He is affectionate, clever, funny and incredibly rewarding once he feels safe.
🏡 Ideal Home
Dexter needs a calm, predictable home with people who understand sensitive dogs and are willing to give him time to fully settle. The home, where will be not left alone, where someone od always around or allow him to accompany them everywhere. Most likely with time he will get used to stay alone for short time. But sometimes it takes even 6 months before it will happen- when dog is fully and absolutely feels home safe.
He could live happily as an only dog, or potentially with another calm, relaxed dog who is not possessive around toys or food.
A quieter lifestyle with limited visitors would help him feel secure and allow his lovely personality to truly shine.
💙 Dexter does not need perfection. He just needs someone willing to understand him instead of giving up on him. And once he trusts you… you will have one of the most loyal little companions imaginable. 🐶💙
🩺 Health Information
Dexter is neutered, microchipped and has had dental treatment completed. He is otherwise healthy.
