Sadly, his family have now asked us to take him back. As life changes and families grow, managing a typical young Dachshund alongside young children has become increasingly difficult. Wanting the very best for Frankie, his family have made the difficult decision to let him find a home better suited to his needs. He is currently at Foster and recovering after castration. Unfortunately he is not settling with Resident male dog and we need URGENTLY to move him 🙏🐾🏠 🐾 Meet Frankie Frankie is a handsome Dachshund boy, not yet 3 years old, with everything people adore about the breed—clever, affectionate, funny, full of personality and completely devoted to his people. ✨ Highlights ✨ • SIZE: Small, but not miniature • NEUTERED: Yes • CHARACTER: Loving • Clever • Lively • Playful • Typical Dachshund • DOGS: Friendly, would love a calm female canine companion • CATS: No cats • CHILDREN: Calm, dog-savvy older children (12+) only 🐾 More About Frankie Frankie loves being part of family life and wants to know what his people are doing at all times. He would suit a quieter household where he isn't left alone for long periods and can enjoy plenty of companionship. He is fully house-trained, sleeps well through the night, eats well, knows his basic commands and absolutely loves his walks. Playing ball is one of his favourite things, and he enjoys having a good run around the park before coming home for fuss, belly rubs and ear scratches. Frankie would really benefit from living with a friendly female dog (he doesn’t get along well currently with male dog, but previously was happy around other daschunds). He enjoys canine companionship and play but would be happiest with a calm, balanced female dog who isn't constantly in his face. Like many small dogs, Frankie is very much in his "teenage phase". He is testing boundaries, so his new family will need patience, consistency and clear routines to help him mature into the fantastic adult dog we know he will become. Frankie can be vocal when he sees unfamiliar people, dogs or new situations, but once he is reassured and realises there is nothing to worry about, he settles well. He also resource guards his food, so this simply needs sensible management by allowing him to eat in peace without interruption. Although he has happily played ball with younger children, we feel he would be happiest with older children aged 12+ who understand canine body language and know when to give him space. Like many Dachshunds, he doesn't enjoy unpredictable behaviour and will communicate when he feels uncomfortable. 🏡 Ideal Home Frankie is looking for people who truly understand and appreciate the Dachshund character. He needs a calm home with clear boundaries, kind but confident handling and owners who understand that leadership isn't about being harsh—it's about providing consistency, routine and helping him feel secure. Dogs loving household, a friendly female dog for companionship, no cats, and older dog-savvy children would be his ideal match. 💞 Frankie isn't looking for perfection. He's looking for people who understand that Dachshunds have huge personalities packed into little bodies. Give him structure, patience, love and plenty of adventures, and he'll reward you with endless loyalty, laughter and companionship.
