Meet Rusty - the sweetest little survivor looking for his forever home
Location - Oxfordshire
Rusty is a beautiful 4 yo medium sized mixed breed with the softest eyes, beautiful fur and loving heart. This special boy is searching for a kind, experienced person to give him the safe and happy life he so deserves.
Rusty’s story could have ended before it even began… he came from a shelter where he would have been killed if he wasn’t rescued. Through no fault of his own he found himself running out of time. Thankfully he was given a second chance and now he is ready to find the forever home that will be his happy ending.
Since moving into foster care, Rusty has blossomed. He has discovered, thanks to his wonderful foster mum, how amazing life can be. He has been out and about to coffee shops, meeting people (where he was an absolute superstar), has met children calmly and sweetly, and loves nothing more than sitting and watching the birds with total fascination. It’s like he’s making up for all the moments he nearly never got to experience.
At home Rusty is incredibly affectionate. He will gently come over for strokes and cuddles, then snuggle beside you on the sofa under a cosy blanket. He sleeps happily on his bed, or in his favourite armchair if allowed, and truly just wants to be near his person. Once he trusts you his loyalty is heart-melting.
He gets on well with other dogs in the home and settles nicely alongside them. He’s even started playing with toys, showing off a gorgeous puppy-like playful side that will have you smiling every day. Seeing him learn how to ‘just be a dog’ is incredibly special.
Rusty loves his walks and exploring the world. He walks on the lead, sometimes a little enthusiastically, and enjoys sniffing, discovering new places and bird watching. He can be a little reactive to some dogs when out and about so he needs time and patience to work on this.
Rusty can be a little more nervous around men and will need someone who understands that trust takes time. He needs a calm home with someone to reassure him that he is now safe to make him feel secure. In return he will give you unwavering devotion and companionship.
He absolutely adores his food and will need continuing training around food manners although this has already improved. Understandable because he’s never needed to worry before when he didn’t know when he was next going to eat. He is fed separately to other dogs in foster. He’s a clever boy and is already making considerable progress with house training.
Ideally Rusty would suit a one or two person household. He could live with another friendly dog. Not cat tested. Adult home preferred.
He is fully Vaccinated, Neutered, Microchipped and vet checked.
Rusty has already survived more than most dogs ever should. Now he just needs someone to show him that he is home…..for good.
