GRANDPA – 14-YEAR-OLD GENTLEMAN LOOKING FOR A LONG-TERM FOSTER HOME
Grandpa is a wonderful older gentleman of around 14 years old who is looking for a very special long-term foster home where he can enjoy his retirement.
He has travelled from a difficult life in Bosnia and is now in short term foster where we have been able to gain a better understanding of the type of home in which he will be happiest.
Despite his age, Grandpa still has plenty of enthusiasm for life! He loves going out in his stroller, hopping out to have a good sniff around and meeting other dogs. If he spots a potential four-legged friend in the distance, he can move considerably faster than his age would have you believe!
His absolute favourite place is the garden. Grandpa loves being outside, particularly when the sun is shining, so a secure garden is essential for him.
Around the home, Grandpa is quite an independent character. He isn’t looking for someone to fuss over him constantly, but he does like to know where his people are and enjoys following what they are doing throughout the day. He would therefore be happiest with someone who is around for a good part of the day and can include him in their everyday routine.
After what has undoubtedly been a difficult life, it has been lovely to see Grandpa beginning to relax and discover how to play and interact with people. His funny little personality is emerging more and more, and he is becoming increasingly affectionate as he learns that life can be safe and enjoyable.
THE HOME GRANDPA NEEDS
Grandpa needs a stair-free home. It is important that he can move around freely and choose to follow his humans when he wants to.
He will also need:
• A secure garden – very important for this sunshine-loving boy
• Someone around for a good part of the day
• Gentle outings and plenty of opportunities for sniffing
• Someone happy to continue taking him out in his stroller
• A peaceful, comfortable home where he can enjoy his retirement
Grandpa is a medium-sized dog and has a damaged paw, believed to be the result of a birth defect. This certainly doesn’t stop him enjoying life, although his age and mobility obviously need to be taken into consideration.
He has recently had a dental and is generally healthy and well.
We are looking for a long-term foster home rather than adoption for Grandpa. The rescue will remain involved and provide ongoing support.
Ideally, we would like Grandpa to remain within Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire or the West Midlands, although we would consider further afield for an exceptional home that meets his needs.
Grandpa has lived a long life and deserves to spend this chapter somewhere safe, comfortable and loved.
He isn’t looking for grand adventures. He needs a garden to enjoy, gentle outings, a comfortable place to snooze and someone who will let this funny, independent old gentleman become part of their everyday life.
