We have two absolutely lovely African Spurred (Sulcata) tortoises, both 15 years old, looking for their new forever home.
These are two very special tortoises who have been part of our family for many years. They are friendly, confident and used to human interaction. They are hand-fed and are comfortable being around people.
They have also been raised around other animals, including dogs and cats, and are accustomed to a busy family environment. They are wonderful characters and have such lovely personalities.

Their care
Sulcatas are beautiful, intelligent and very rewarding tortoises, but they are also a very large species and need a serious long-term commitment.
They require a large, secure enclosure, plenty of room to walk and graze, access to appropriate UVB and heat, and a warm, dry, insulated shelter. In the UK, they cannot simply be kept outside year-round; they need appropriate heated accommodation when temperatures are unsuitable.
Their diet should be primarily high-fibre grasses and suitable weeds, with fresh drinking water available, rather than a high-fruit or high-protein diet. Their enclosure and heating need to be properly set up before bringing them home.
They do not hibernate.
Because of their size and strength, prospective owners must be prepared for the space, heating, feeding and ongoing costs involved in keeping adult Sulcatas properly. Appropriate reptile husbandry includes controlled temperatures, UVB, shelter and protection from unsuitable weather.

We are not looking for just any home. These tortoises mean a lot to us, and finding them the right home is our priority.
