Description

Rosa is a medium/large sized girl who is approximately 4 years old She was taken into the care of Pawprints in 2023 after she was brought, badly injured, to one of our rescuers in Curtea De Arges, Romania. Rosa had been hit by a train and needed urgent medical care Unfortunately her front right leg couldn’t be saved but Rosa made a full recovery otherwise She made her way over to her UK Foster home in May 2025. Rosa is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed She is perfectly healthy and, with a few minor adaptations, lives a “normal” life Rosa is a more apprehensive character, she struggled in the shelter due to her vulnerability after her Vet treatment had been completed A patient and understanding forever home is essential for her, with love and reassurance we are sure she will blossom Rosa hasn’t met many new people while she has been in her current home but her Foster Mum reports she has never shown any aggressive tendencies She suspects that Rosa would “be wary but not aggressive” with visitors to the home Utilisation of a safe space and slow, careful introductions would allow Rosa to gain confidence in these situations Rosa currently lives with a number of other dogs of differing ages and sizes In the main she gets along well with them but can growl at one dog in particular She is fed separately and uses a food stand to help her balance while eating. Rosa could live with another dog and it is felt that a calm, accepting dog would be beneficial as Rosa settles into her forever home We do not recommend that Rosa lives with cats, she has not met any while living in the UK but did display some negative behaviour towards them in Romania Rosa has not met children and due to her more nervous nature we feel that a home with children aged 14 years plus or an adult only home would be best A calm environment where Rosa’s boundaries will be respected will be very important to ensure she feels safe and secure Rosa accepts a lead and harness, her Foster Mum has said that she is still very nervous and lacking in confidence though Whilst out and about she is easily spooked by environmental stimulii (people, other dogs etc) and has a tendency to “sink to the ground” Walking her in quieter locations will be key to making progress in this area Further work will be needed when Rosa has settled in her forever home and Pawprints are happy to support with this. Rosa has not travelled in a car since she has been in the UK Rosa is both toilet and crate trained and has never been destructive within the home She has not shown any food or resource guarding behaviour nor any signs of separation anxiety She can be left in the home with the company of some of the other dogs for several hours with no issues She settles and sleeps well overnight in the sitting room, again with doggy companions Rosa’s Foster Mum has the following to say about her: “Rosa is a lovely dog , she accepts treats and can be stroked but is not excessively cuddly. She likes to spend most of the day snoozing in her bed in the sitting room or outside in the sunshine if the weather is warm.”
