Meet Buddy! 🐶
Buddy has spent his whole life in a home. He came to the Cambridgeshire area as a puppy, full of hope, and has grown into a gentle, sensitive soul who simply wants to belong. But through no fault of his own, Buddy now finds himself in a situation where his needs can no longer be met… and his world has quietly become smaller.
Right now, Buddy is being left crated for long periods. For a dog who thrives on having people around, this is incredibly hard. He struggles with being alone and experiences anxiety, though he does take comfort from the presence of another dog. When he experiences this anxiety he can display destructive behaviours. What Buddy truly needs is a home where someone is there, where he can feel safe and settled.
Buddy is 5 years old and still has so much life and love to give. He lives with children and is wonderful with them, showing patience and kindness. He would really benefit from living with another calm, confident dog who can help guide and reassure him. He hasn’t been tested with cats. Like a lot of dogs, he struggles with loud noises and has been on vet medication around fireworks season.
Out on walks, Buddy is a joy. He enjoys being active and would thrive in a home that can give him regular exercise and adventures. He may pull a little if he spots another dog - he just wants to say hello - but this is manageable and comes from his friendly nature.
At home, Buddy is a quiet companion. He isn’t demanding, but he loves affection in his own gentle way. He’ll come over for a scratch or a tickle, often waiting politely to be invited… and if you stop too soon, he’ll wander off with a soft sigh - his subtle way of saying “I was enjoying that.”
Buddy will need a home with access to a garden, as he would happily spend time outside, but he doesn’t tend to toilet there - so regular walks are essential. He can occasionally have accidents indoors, so patience and routine will be important.
He is currently on a urinary diet due to crystals, which will likely need to continue long-term, but aside from this he is healthy and up to date with all vaccinations.
