đŸ Hugo â 3 Year Old German Shepherd Looking for His Forever Home đŸ
This has been an incredibly difficult decision for us and one we havenât taken lightly, but weâre looking for the right home for Hugo where he can get the time, consistency and training we feel he deserves.
Hugo is a 3-year-old, non-neutered German Shepherd. He is a lovely dog who is incredibly loyal and forms a strong bond with his people. Around the house he is calm, settled and enjoys being close to his family.
He has been great with our children, however we feel he would be best suited to a home without young children (older children would be considered) simply because we think he would benefit from a quieter environment and more one-to-one attention.
Hugo lives with our 8-month-old dog and has been brilliant with him. Out on walks, there have been a small number of occasions (three times) where he has shown some reactivity towards other dogs. He has never bitten, but he can become distracted and excited, so this is something his new owner should be aware of and willing to continue working on.
He is house trained and knows to use the garden for toileting. His recall is generally good and something weâve been working on, although he can lose focus around some dogsâmostly because he wants to go and say hello. He knows basic commands including sit and lie down.
Hugo loves woodland walks, trips to the beach and swimmingâhe really enjoys being outdoors.
Hugo is up to date with vaccinations (next due in August) and is microchipped. His microchip details will be transferred to his new owner upon rehoming.
Health-wise, when Hugo came to us we noticed occasional clouding in his right eye. The previous owners advised their vet had said it was nothing to worry about. We later discussed this with our own vet, who suggested it could possibly be lens luxation, but this has not been confirmed and we were awaiting further assessment from an ophthalmologist. Since being with us, it has not worsened and the only symptom weâve noticed is occasional clouding of the eye. We want to be completely transparent so any potential new owner is aware.
We took Hugo in back in March to accompany our younger pup, but weâve realised he would thrive with someone experienced with the breed and with more time available to continue his training and help him reach his full potential.
We are in no rush and finding the right home matters far more than finding a quick one. Please message with a little about yourself, your home setup and any experience with larger breeds.
