It is with a heavy heart that we are looking to rehome our beautiful Belgian Malinois, Athena. We have had her for a few months and absolutely adore her, but as time has gone on, we have realised we simply do not have the hours required to give this phenomenal breed the mental and physical stimulation she truly deserves.Athena is an incredibly intelligent, high-drive dog. She came to us already trained, and we have continued to put in further work with her during her time with us. She listens extremely well to commands and has a fantastic work ethic. Because of her breed, she is at her happiest when she has a specific job or task to focus on.
While she can adapt to different living situations, she would thrive best in an environment where she can get to work. She is absolutely brilliant and shines brightest in a one-on-one relationship with a single owner who understands the needs of a working Malinois. That being said, she is highly adaptable and could easily live happily in a family setting, currently living with a 12 year old and she has been great.Because of her working heritage, potential owners should understand that she isn't a couch potato, even for one day. She needs plenty of aerobic exercise, brain games, and consistent engagement. She would be the perfect match for an experienced owner who is heavily involved in agility, protection work sports, or simply someone who lives a highly active, outdoor lifestyle and wants a loyal companion.
