Description
It is with a very heavy heart that I am looking to find a loving new home for my beautiful 2-year-old male Lilac British Shorthair.
He has been part of our family since he was young, and this is not a decision we have taken lightly. He is a lovely boy and has been well cared for throughout his life. He is neutered, microchipped and registered with both GCCF and TICA. His paperwork/pedigree will be provided to his new owner.
He is an indoor cat and has been used to living in a large family home. He enjoys having his own space and is a lovely cat to have around. He is a beautiful lilac colour with the typical lovely appearance and temperament associated with the British Shorthair breed.
Important information
I want to be completely honest with prospective owners about one ongoing issue.
He uses his litter tray reliably for urinating but has developed a habit of pooing outside the litter tray. This started after he had been using his litter tray normally for around a year. We have tried different litter, different trays and different arrangements, but unfortunately the problem has continued.
Interestingly, when he stays overnight in a separate room with his own litter tray, he uses the tray for both wee and poo without any problem. This makes us believe that with the right environment, routine and patience, the issue may be manageable.
We are making this clear because we want to find someone who understands the situation and is genuinely prepared to work with him. We would not want him going to a new home where the new owner is unaware of this behaviour.
We have a young child and, despite trying different solutions, the ongoing toileting issue has become increasingly difficult for our family to manage. This is the only reason we are considering rehoming him.
He will only go to a loving, responsible and suitable home. I will ask prospective owners questions about their home and experience with cats because finding him the right home is more important to us than simply selling him.
He is a much-loved family pet and we want this to be the right move for him, not simply a sale.
