I am sadly having to rehome Dustin, he is a loving, energetic, protective dog, he is my second dog, my oldest is a pug who is 9. I have recently rescued two puppies brother and sister who are now 1. He has never had any problems interacting with them I have pics and videos. The female had her first season in January, and I noticed changes in him, he started correcting the younger ones until a couple of months ago his corrections turned into an attack, he then a few weeks later tried to dominate my oldest who as always been my alpha with who Evers dog that he’s been around and has entered my house. Dustin had submitted to him from pup till the then, for the first 2-3 years Dustin urinated like a bitch dog to show submission, he also loved to be groomed and fathered by my oldest, I separated them for a week hoping it was just a case of a one off, he done it again to my oldest to the point he has left scars on his face. He then done it again to my bitch in a situation of the youngest boy slipping through my gate and Dustin went for him, my bitch got in the way of separating them and Dustin managed to free himself and caught hold of her. That has also left scars in her face. As bad as this al sounds Dustin is a good dog, he walks off lead has very good recall, as long as her has vocal commands, my 15 year old daughter is still walking him without any worry, I have spoken to rescue centres and the vets, and have been advised he needs to be rehome to someone who can give him the time he needs also someone who dosnt or isn’t thinking of taking on any other dogs. I have spoken to a dog section who work for working dogs and they have confirmed he has a lot of potential but unfortunately due to my bitch he know trying to dominate and be extremely territorial in my home. I live with just myself and my daughter.
He loves his walks on the beach, loves going to Forrest’s, playing fetch is his all time favourite, he likes to play chase he dose this by not giving you his stick or ball/toy. He loves playing with the hose spray. He also like a cheeky dance when the music is playing.
I am so saddened to have to do this, as he’s been my security for the past 4 years. But unfortunately due to the circumstances I am in, it is not fair on him or the other dogs, he’s always been a house dog, sleeps on my daughters bed always had free roam, it’s took a significant toll an all of them still living together but having to seperated and sharing the one garden I have. There not used to having to be locked in rooms for periods of time.
