💔 Here is Doris again… and our hearts are breaking for her.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out again, and now Doris urgently needs the right foster home before she ends up in kennels. We have just a few days. And for a young, strong, sensitive dog, kennels will not help — they will only make her worse.
Doris is not a bad dog. She is not dangerous. She is not broken. She is a big softy, loving girl trapped in a large, strong, over-excited body. She is affectionate, loving with people at home, joyful and full of life — but she missed the early training and socialisation she needed, through absolutely no fault of her own.
Because she was never shown how to cope with the world, Doris learned to respond the only way she could — through reactivity.
She needs someone who will listen to her and allow her to process everything at her own slow, safe pace.
She is active, enthusiastic, clever and desperate to connect… but she doesn’t yet know where to put all that energy and emotion. She needs guidance, not judgement. Structure, not another rejection. A committed, confident person — not someone acting only from compassion in the moment, but someone ready to truly help her.

💔 Rescue Story
Doris was born here in the UK. This is not an imported dog with an unknown past.
She was sold as a young puppy, returned to seller, surrendered, rehomed, and now she is back again. Before coming into rescue, Doris was already at risk of euthanasia because seller didn’t want her. She was a young dog with energy, strength and no proper guidance — and instead of being helped, she nearly lost her life.
When she was given care, attention and structure, she started to blossom quickly. She showed her lovely nature, her affection, her eagerness to learn, her joy for life.
Now she has only a few days before kennels become the only option. And we are desperate to protect her from that.
🐾 More About Doris
Doris is a real softy at home, in safe and quiet environment. A big, loving, people-focused girl who wants to bond, wants to play, wants to belong. She attaches quickly, especially to women, and when she feels safe and engaged, she gives so much back.
Her family described how she will play ball for ages and how this is one of the best ways to help her burn energy. She even played ball with a 6-year-old child without issues. She can is clean and well-behaved indoors, she can wait for food, wait at the door.
But Doris is also struggling. She is reactive to people, dogs, cars — the outside world can overwhelm her quickly. She pulls on lead, though this has improved with guidance. She can become over-aroused and frustrated, because she has energy and enthusiasm but no proper skills yet to manage them.
She is still uneasy around unknown men, and she does not like being touched too much around her sides. She needs someone who will respect her body language, not push her, and help her feel safe through calm, consistent communication
Doris needs someone capable. Someone experienced with large, strong, young, energetic dogs. Someone who understands that reactivity is not “badness” — it is often confusion, frustration, insecurity.
In the right hands, Doris can become a fantastic dog. She is affectionate, trainable, responsive and loving. But she needs the right person to show her how.
🏡 Ideal Home
Doris needs an experienced, confident and committed foster home urgently. We are not insisting on immediate adoption commitment. What we need first is the right foster — someone who can give her safety, structure and a chance.
She needs an active home with someone who understands strong young dogs, reactivity, decompression and consistent training. She needs calm handling, clear boundaries, routine, physical exercise and mental stimulation.
A home without cats is needed due to prey drive. A home without young children, though older, dog-savvy teens may be considered if the adults are experienced and confident. She may need to be the only dog at least initially, so she can decompress and be assessed properly without pressure.
This must be someone ready for the reality of helping Doris — not someone moved only by her sad story. She needs kindness, yes, but she also needs confidence, experience and commitment.
💞 Doris is a young dog who has had too little of what she needed, too late, and now she is trying to cope with a world she was never properly prepared for.
Please don’t let her end up in kennels. Please don’t let another door close on her.
She still has every chance to become the dream dog she is underneath — a loving, loyal, fun, soft-hearted girl who just needs the right person to finally stand by her. ❤️
