Description
Fantastic project for a professional or experienced person.
Owner giving up due to rapidly declining health so motivated to find new pastures.
Is there anyone looking for a nice quality, completely unspoilt young horse who is now ready to start his real education.
He is what I like to call a marmite horse, you either love him or you hate him, there’s no in between. And in return, he’s the same, he either likes you or he doesn’t, there’s no middle ground.
He was 16.1hh the last time I had the stick on him, but that was a while ago so he could be more like 16.2hh now.
He’s a nicely bred ISH, very easy on the eye and a pretty colour to boot. Though he currently looks like a mud monster!
He was backed and ridden very lightly as a four year old (literally a dozen small rides) however has been turned away to mature for almost two years so is a genuine blank canvas who hasn’t been rushed or spoilt in any way. He has done nothing at all in the past two years, so would absolutely benefit from a complete restart with someone who has both the time and facilities to work with him.
He does have a few ‘quirks’ nothing at all nasty. He will stand to be tied up but can be a bit of a fidget and gets bored if he’s left waiting too long.
Can have the occasional day when he doesn’t want to be caught and will happily play catch me if you can.
He can be a fidget with the farrier, but I’ve found a lickit really helps.
He is a sensitive sort and likes to pretend rugs scare him some days (they don’t 🙄🤣)
He can be nervous around new people, but once he trusts you he’s like a big Labrador and will follow you around the field. He especially likes to ‘help’ poo pick lol
He is NOT a horse for a novice or nervous rider. He is a young horse and he needs someone who is calm and patient, but most of all experienced. He does like to test boundaries and if he’s allowed he will absolutely push his luck, so someone who is used to young horses and who won’t be afraid to tell him no.
He is green as grass but has bags of untapped potential and I’m certain he could turn his hoof to any job.
Can live in or out, equally happy with either. Can be turned out alone or in a herd.
Has seen traffic and was good as gold, but again, something he would need to be reintroduced to. Though I can’t imagine it would be a problem.
He does have a quick brain and picks up on things really quickly, so I’m sure if someone had the time to put in, he will make a cracking little horse.
Up to date with feet/teeth/worming but jabs will need restarting as I was in hospital when they were due.
Please note: he is being sold from the field. He has not been ridden since he was backed two years ago, so I wouldn’t feel comfortable for people to come and test ride. He is going to need restarting before he can be ridden, and I don’t have the facilities to test ride.
I can send videos of him being ridden when he was backed if required.
Due to my poor health, I’m completely giving up horses, so looking for a quick, hassle free sale before I have to go back into to hospital. So please only comment if you are genuinely interested and ready to buy. I’ve been inundated with messages from people who have clearly not read the entire post and I really don’t have the energy or time for dreamers and photo collectors.
This has not been a decision I have made easily, it’s breaking my heart having to do this, but I have to do what’s best for him.
Looking for offers around 6.5k which will include his quality tack and rugs, but I am open to sensible offers for a quick, stress free ⛵️ to genuine homes.
No loans/LWVTB/payment plans.
