Handsome 13.3hh, 14yo Gelding – Experienced/Project or Companion Home 🩶
Very handsome 13.3hh, 14-year-old Dartmoor-type gelding looking for a knowledgeable and experienced home.
He is a kind and loving boy who is lovely to handle. He is good to groom, picks up all four feet and is generally a pleasure to have around. He is up to date with vaccinations, feet and worming.
He can be ridden and has not done anything dangerous, but he is currently a buzzy ride and can be speedy. His main issue under saddle is that he struggles with the canter transition and will often increase his trot rather than strike off into canter. He would therefore suit a confident, experienced rider who has the time, patience and ability to work with him and bring him on.
He has been driven in the past, although this was before coming to me, and I feel this may be something worth taking into consideration when working with him.
I would also consider a companion home. He could be a great option for someone looking for a companion for another horse, particularly for a home where one horse cannot be left on its own when the other is ridden.
Management:
* Loves his turnout and is noticeably more settled when turned out.
* Needs another horse for company and does not like being left alone.
* Happily lives with mares or geldings.
* Good with electric fencing.
* Can be stabled, but I feel he is happier with plenty of turnout and company.
* Has been seen to windsuck. This is currently managed with a windsucking collar and turnout.
He is not being advertised as a novice ride and I am looking for an experienced home that understands his quirks and is prepared to put the time into him.
He is a genuinely lovely, affectionate boy who deserves a home that is right for him. I would be happy to be completely open and honest with anyone interested and answer any questions.
Experienced home is essential. No timewasters, please.
