Description
8-year-old pedigree Oriental Shorthair seeking a loving permanent home.
Due to an international relocation to Australia, we are making the heartbreaking decision to find a new home for our much-loved cat, Maya.
Maya is an 8-year-old pedigree Oriental Shorthair and is genuinely one of the most affectionate and sociable cats you could meet. She absolutely loves people, makes friends with everyone she meets and thrives on company, affection and attention.
Maya bonds well, is extremely loving, always interested to be around people. She welcomes you home, asks her belly rubs and snuggles constantly, comforts you when you’re down, always stays near. She sleeps in her basket, on your bed or in your bed if you let her. She sits on laps, loves being held.
She has always been the only pet in our home and we believe she would be happiest remaining an only pet. She has never been around children, but she has a calm temperament, and being so sociable, we think she would enjoy the attention and cuddles children may give her.
Maya has had access to a safe garden throughout her life, away from busy roads, so a similar environment would be wonderful. However, we would also consider an experienced and very attentive indoor home where she would receive plenty of companionship and enrichment.
She is completely white, so her ears are sensitive to strong sun exposure and need to be protected by keeping her indoors when sun is strongest in summer afternoons, or pet safe sun block application.
Maya also has mild feline asthma, which requires responsible monitoring through avoidance of triggers (such as heavy sprays), and she has had her upper canines removed. Neither stops her from enjoying life, or has an impact at all, but we want to ensure the person rehoming her understands that she may come with some care needs later in her life, which should be expected of any animal.
Maya has most recently seen the vet in August 2026 and is confirmed as very healthy and up to date on her jabs. She is spayed.
The right forever home is extremely important.
Ideally, Maya's new owner would be someone who:
- Is home for a reasonable amount of the time and enjoys having a very affectionate companion.
- Is happy for Maya to be their only pet.
- Understands or is willing to learn about Oriental Shorthairs.
- Is comfortable managing her needs.
- Can offer her a calm, stable and permanent home.
- Will treat her as a much-loved member of the family.
Maya is being rehomed purely because of our relocation and the stress impact we believe international travel, quarantine and a major change in lifestyle could have on her. There are no behavioural reasons for rehoming her.
This is an extremely difficult decision, and we will be very careful about where she goes.
If you think you might be able to offer Maya the right home — or you know a trusted person who might — please get in touch.
We would be very grateful if veterinary practices, breed contacts and trusted local networks could share this with suitable people.
We are needing to rehome Maya ahead of 1st October.
We will only consider you if you meet the above. We will need to speak to you and meet you before making a decision on if you can give her the home she deserves.
