Description
It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we are looking to find a new home for our beautiful German Shepherd x Akita mix, Luna.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly at all, but due to a change in my health (as I have a spinal tumour and now multiple other issues) and her specific needs, we know it is what’s best for her.
About Luna:
Luna is deeply loyal, loving, and does wonderfully with myself, my husband, and our teenage children.
She also currently lives with another small dog and a cat.
However, when she was a puppy during COVID, we were attacked on a walk by a stranger who cause inury and physical harm to me and tried to steal her.
Ever since that trauma, Luna has suffered from severe stranger anxiety, and guarding issues.
Her Needs:
A Quiet, Adult-Only Home: Because of her anxiety, Luna cannot tolerate guests.
When people come to the house, she becomes highly distressed and snaps, esepcially around young children and men, and people running past her, meaning we currently have to separate her, which isn’t fair to her quality of life. She has never actually bitten anyone - but because of her anxiety - I wouldnt risk it - hence saying she needs to be in specific environments and further training to remove the risk.
No Other Pets: While she lives with pets now, we believe Luna would thrive best as the only animal in the home so her new owners can focus entirely on her training and confidence.
An Active Owner: My own mobility has recently deteriorated, and I can no longer give Luna the long walks she needs and deserves.
She does not require long-term medication for her anxiety - though our vet did previously prescribe a short course to help manage her stress.
She simply needs a calm, structured environment.
We are looking for experienced, serious owners who understand large guarding breeds and trauma-based anxiety to give Luna the peaceful life she deserves.
All vaccinations, flea and worming are up to date and obviously was microchipped as a puppy. She can do commands and learns really well, knows the usual tricks, sit, lie down, stay, Away, up, middle, speak etc.
When I say this has been a difficult decision, believe me. Luna has been my absolute anchor in emotional support, she is extremely well loved and adored by all of us. I have 3 heartbroken children as well as the heartbreak myself. So again, this is NOT a light decision to let her go, so she needs to bw in the absolute BEST home possible for her.
