Description

GERTIE IS IN THE CARE OF LURCHER LINK RESCUE 💚Gertie is a 6-year-old female lurcher of about 23” to the shoulder and weighs about 18kg. Gertie has come to us due to a relationship breakdown. 💚Gertie loves people and is very friendly 💚Gertie is well-behaved; she’s toilet trained, well-mannered and obedient in the home. 💚Gertie is crate-trained 💚Gertie has been fine with being left for up to 4 hours per day. ❌Not suitable to live with cats 💚Gertie travels well in the car, but will bark at passing dogs and other animals if her view is not obscured. She’s fine travelling in a covered crate. 💚Gertie is generally fine with other dogs when away from the home. She has mixed with other dogs with a dog-walker with no problems. She also has been fine with the other dogs in kennels since she arrived. ‼However, Gertie was very reactive to other dogs in her immediate vicinity of her previous home. She lived in a very quiet rural area but with a public footpath next to the house. Gertie was prone to becoming very fixated and wound-up by passing dogs; barking and lunging at them; and also if she met other dogs on local walks. The previous owners worked with a behaviouralist and a vet over several years and she has been prescribed Fluoxetine (40mg daily). ‼Since Gertie has arrived in kennels she’s not shown any issues with the other dogs or when out on walks. However anyone thinking of adopting Gertie should be prepared to cope with occasional or local reactivity, which might not show itself immediately. ‼Gertie has come with a plentiful supply of Fluoxetine. She may not need to continue taking it forever, but any new owner should not attempt to take her off her medication during her settling-in period. Fluoxetine MUST be tapered off slowly and in consultation with a vet; as it can cause dangerous side-affects if withdrawn suddenly. Gertie is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped DON'T BREED OR BUY WHILE THOUSANDS DIE; SAVE A LIFE - ADOPT
