📍 Currently in foster with us in Hertfordshire ✅ Vaccinated & microchipped ✈️ Comes with pet passport 🐕 Friendly with other dogs, Non negotiable will ONLY be homed with friendly, confident one 👧 Best suited to calm, dog savvy children aged 10+ 🐱 Not tested, would need slow introductions 💛 Exceptionally gentle and sweet natured 🍗 Becoming very food motivated (dog chicken pâté is a firm favourite) 🌱 Needs patient adopters who will allow her to build trust at her own pace 💗 Meet Joy 💗 Joy is a beautiful little girl with the gentlest soul who is slowly discovering that life can actually be pretty lovely with humans She had a difficult start before coming into rescue and, like so many of the dogs we foster, she arrived carrying uncertainty about people and the world around her. Because of this, Joy is shy and cautious. Since being in foster with us, her curiosity has started taking over and every day we’re seeing another little piece of her personality shine She watches what we’re doing (especially in the kitchen) follows the other dogs for reassurance and is becoming increasingly interested in being part of everyday life. Joy isn’t currently a dog who wants lots of cuddles or physical affection and that’s completely okay, she’s still learning she’s safe and decompressing 💛 Personality Joy is an incredibly gentle, quiet and observant little girl. We love her quirky smile and cute little face! When something makes her unsure, she would much rather give herself some space and watch from a safe distance than react. As her confidence has grown, she’s started choosing to spend more time nearby, the other dogs show her humans can be great fun and highly rewarding She loves finding a comfy spot close by and settling down for a snooze while everyone goes about their day. And we’re starting to see some very cute little quirks appear too… If Joy hears a suspicious noise or decides there may possibly be an intruder somewhere in the house, she does the funniest little snort to let everyone know. 😂 For such a quiet little dog, apparently neighbourhood security is still very important!! And then there’s her little underbite… 😂 Joy has the goofiest little teeth that make her look permanently unimpressed or like she’s quietly judging everyone in the room. We absolutely love it, even when she’s doing nothing, her face has so much personality. 🤣💗 🍗 FOOD = THE WAY TO HER HEART We’ve recently discovered that Joy is becoming very food motivated, which has been brilliant for confidence building. The JR Chicken pâté is currently VERY high on her list of favourite things. She’s often leaving her breakfast knowing that is on the cards for lunch, she’s working the system 😂🍗 She’s learning that approaching people can result in something delicious too and that being curious about the world often leads to good things so positive, reward based training will be incredibly important for Joy going forward! 🏡 Home Life Joy is settling and decompressing whilst with us in foster She loves having the freedom to choose where she feels comfortable and will snooze while keeping an eye on everything happening around her. Having other dogs around has been really helpful for her. Joy watches the dogs she trusts and takes reassurance from their behaviour. If everyone else is relaxed about something, it helps Joy understand that she probably doesn’t need to worry either. Because of this, we feel she would really benefit from living with another friendly, confident resident dog who can continue helping her navigate everyday life. She isn’t currently comfortable with petting or snuggling and her future family must genuinely be okay with that, this will take time 💗 Her affection may develop enormously as her confidence grows but we want someone who will love and accept the Joy standing in front of them today, without expecting her to become a different dog. 🏡 Joy’s Perfect Home A calm, secure environment where she can relax and decompress ❤️ Patient, gentle and understanding adopters 🐕 Non negotiable!!! another friendly, confident resident dog to offer reassurance 👧 Calm, dog savvy children aged 10+ 🍗 Positive, reward based confidence building chicken pâté definitely encouraged! 😂 🛋️ A cosy safe space where she can retreat whenever she wants ⏳ People who won’t rush physical affection or expect immediate trust 🌱 A family willing to introduce new experiences gradually and at Joy’s pace 💛 Someone who will celebrate the tiny victories just as much as the enormous ones Joy isn’t looking for someone who needs an instantly confident, cuddly dog. She needs someone who understands that sometimes love looks like a frightened little dog choosing to sleep three feet closer to you than she did yesterday. Or taking a treat she wouldn’t have taken last week. Or deciding that the mysterious noise upstairs deserves a tiny protective snort. 😂 📩 ADOPTION PROCESS 📝 Application form & initial approval 🏡📞 House check and a call with ourselves as Joy’s foster family and/or the rescue 🐾 Meet & greet with Joy Please message us directly with your email address to request an adoption application form.
