We have a 26 year old female Hermann tortoise and an 11 year old female thighspur tortoise. My wife bought “Wilbur” the Hermann tortoise when she was the size of a 50p piece. 11 years ago my wife was given a baby thighspur tortoise “George” as a present. She was bred in captivity and we got to see all the ladies tortoises in her home. Sadly we are moving home and downsizing. We have two children , dogs, ducks, geese and chickens and we are struggling to give these tortoises the time and care they deserve. Therefore we have taken the difficult decision to rehome them. They both have male names because we didn’t know their sex when they were tiny but they are both definitely female. They live in a vivarium indoors but get to walk about the house. They also have an outdoor run and spend time in the greenhouse eating weeds weather dependent. They are very gentle, placid tortoises and are used to being around children, dogs and cats, even chickens. George has spent her whole life with Wilbur so we would really like them to go together.
