Description

This is by far one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make, but with a baby on the way and our circumstances changing, we’ve made the heartbreaking decision to find Athena the home she truly deserves. Athena is around 2 years old, a German Shepherd cross, and is an unneutered female. She is the biggest cuddle bug you’ll ever meet and absolutely loves affection from her people. She’s funny, quirky, full of personality, and always keeps you smiling. Once she knows you, she’s incredibly loving and loyal. Athena is also a very intelligent girl who has so much potential. With someone willing to put the time into her, she could excel in training and would make an amazing companion. I genuinely think she’d thrive in a rural or farm environment where she has plenty of space and a job to do. I want to be completely honest about her needs because she deserves a home that’s right for her. She can be food reactive, is anxious and very dependent on her people, and she sometimes nibbles at herself and pulls her fur out when she’s stressed. She is reactive to strangers, but this is all bark and excitement—she has never bitten anyone. She’ll bark and jump around until she’s had a fuss, then she’s your best friend. Although she gets on well with other dogs, I believe she’d be happiest as the only dog in the home so she can have all the one-to-one attention she craves. She is good with children, although she can become a little jealous when she’s not the centre of attention. Athena needs an experienced, patient owner who understands that she isn’t a “perfect” dog—but she is an incredibly loving one who just needs someone willing to invest time, consistency, and love into her. There will be a rehoming fee, purely because I want to ensure she goes to the very best home. I will also be carrying out home checks, as finding the right family for her is far more important than finding one quickly. Please only get in touch if you genuinely feel you can offer Athena the life she deserves. This decision is breaking our hearts, so we’d really appreciate people sharing this to help us find her forever home.
