CHASER – LOVING, QUIET HOME WANTED Chaser is a shy, playful and loving cuddle bunny. He weighs around 7kg, has no known health concerns, is fully toilet trained and does not chew, scratch doors or damage things in the home. NOT AN OFF-LEAD DOGGO. Naps most of the day unless he is playing. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF You have babies or young children. Chaser likes children, but sudden movement, shouting, grabbing, chasing and close physical interaction make him uneasy. Older children may be considered only if they are consistently gentle and respectful of his space. You have cats. He is not cat-friendly. If your home is regularly loud, busy. He is very timid around fireworks, smoke alarms, thunder and football shouting. If you need a silent dog. He sometimes barks or whines when he sees another dog. Chaser is not recall trained outside and currently walks on a long lead. If you expect him to tolerate grabbing, rough handling, people in his face or constant physical interaction. If you plan to leave him alone for most of the working day. He should not regularly be left for more than three hours. If you are unwilling or unable to pay for quality food, grooming, veterinary care, training and pet care. If you are not prepared to give him time to adjust or work through behaviours that may appear after moving. If you would sell, advertise, surrender or pass him to someone else without contacting us first. THE HOME WE ARE LOOKING FOR A calm, predictable and ideally adult-only home with someone who has owned a dog before and understands the responsibility, cost and adjustment involved. A secure private garden or outdoor space is strongly preferred. We want someone who will include him in daily life and suitable outings. Everyone, including visitors, must respect his boundaries. He likes other dogs but dislikes rough play. He may be able to live with the right dog, subject to careful assessment. Applicants must live in or near London because the process includes in-person meetings. WHY WE ARE REHOMING HIM Chaser is very loved. We can no longer give him the life we believe will make him happiest long-term. We are in no rush and will keep him until the right home is found. We will not accept payment; suitability is all that matters. HIS PERSONALITY Chaser can be shy and cautious with new people. Once comfortable, he is affectionate, playful, funny and calm. He loves cuddles and rubs, enjoys sitting beside you on the sofa and will sometimes sit in your lap. He likes to choose when he approaches and whether he wants to be stroked. He does not enjoy being crowded, grabbed, forced into interaction or having people directly in his face. He needs someone who understands dog body language and allows affection at his pace. He responds best to calm, patient handling, gentle direction and positive reinforcement rather than shouting, punishment or rough handling. HIS TYPICAL DAY He wakes up and goes to his bed by the window to nap in the sun. He eats three times daily, uses a snuffle mat and enjoys squeaky toys and chew sticks. He toilets every three to four hours, has two walks daily and naps frequently. WALKING, BEHAVIOUR AND TRAINING Chaser walks on a long lead and prefers exploring rather than walking beside you. On pavements and busy high streets, we keep him beside us; in quieter areas, he uses the full lead. He pulls towards squirrels, birds, cats and rabbits. He sometimes barks or whines when he sees another dog. If allowed to greet them, he usually sniffs briefly and loses interest. In a secure gated park, he may play for a few minutes before returning to independent play. He is more interested in people than dogs. He needs further training before walking safely off-lead. He comes when called inside but not reliably outside. He knows “sit” and “lie down”. “Stay” is still a work in progress because he releases himself. He is nervous in cars and generally fine in cafés, though another dog may excite him. BEING LEFT ALONE He can be left for up to three hours and usually naps by the door while waiting for us. GROOMING & COSTS He is professionally groomed monthly. His coat needs brushing a couple of times weekly when longer; a shorter coat needs less brushing but still requires care. His eyes should be wiped each morning and his teeth brushed at least twice monthly. Typical monthly London costs: food and treats £105, grooming £75, veterinary plan £39 and toys/chews £10. Training varies. Walkers, daycare or pet sitting can add £300 + His adopter must maintain this care. COMMITMENT AFTER ADOPTION Moving home can affect behaviour, so he may not behave exactly as he does with us immediately. He needs decompression time. If new behaviours emerge, they must work through them, train consistently & pay for professional support if needed. We must remain the first point of contact if the placement becomes difficult. Chaser must never be sold, advertised, surrendered or passed to someone else without contacting us. WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR APPLICATION Please include your name, age and location; household members and children’s ages; garden details; dog experience and pets; working hours and time Chaser would be alone; what you want in a dog; behaviours you could not manage; willingness to use professional training; arrangements for holidays and emergencies; monthly care budget; why your home suits Chaser; and whether you can provide updates during the first month. ADOPTION PROCESS We will contact the most suitable applicants, request a WhatsApp # & arrange a video call. We will discuss Chaser, your expectations & ask for a brief tour of the home & garden. Suitable applicants will then attend an in-person meet and greet. More than one meeting may be needed if other adults, older children or pets are involved. Both sides will then have time to consider the fit. We will assess only one or two applicants at a time.
