Ottilie has arrived with her foster family circa 13th February and due to an unfortunate incident they wish to surrender her.
We do tell people how important it is for decompression and separation however sometimes dogs need a little more time and people don’t always heed our caution.
Ottilie is a worried little lady, she wasn’t in Romania , she was a bubbly pup however the travel over and change in environment can be overwhelming so she needs some time.
Otillie requires reassurance, and she would benefit from a quiet home. We advise no visitors or big changes for a few weeks however this hasn’t been followed. She is unsure currently and has been barky towards new visitors.
Children
Ottilie currently lives with children aged 8 and 6 who are quite busy. The foster was advised that she needed her own safe space and time alone. However Ottilie nipped one child twice when he came in and started dancing with sudden movements. The bite did not break the skin and no medical attention was needed. However, due to this we feel she needs older children of circa 12-14 years old minimum depending on the children and how calm they are.
Other Dogs
She lives with another dog (2.5 years old) and did struggle with sharing space and attention for the first week which is common when the dogs first arrive. She did growl at the other dog in this time. Since the first week she has been great with the other dog and can be left with them without any issues. She doesn't need another dog in the home but could live with them.
Cats
She was cat tested in Romania however we feel a cat free home would be less stressful for her.
Behaviour & Training
• Nervous temperament, needs someone who is happy to give her time, confidence and training over a period of time
• No resource or food guarding issues
• Accepts collar, harness, and lead on her first walks she was nervous but since then the has loved going for walks. She can worry about some stimuli but with encouragement she does continue. She can try to escape her lead so will need to be double leaded.
• Not fully toilet trained but improving, she responds well to treats and praise. She does use pads over night
• Not crate trained
• Can be left alone for up to 3 hours
• Sleeps quietly in the kitchen overnight
• Has shown some escape behaviour (attempts to climb wall)
Otillie likes to cuddle up with a blanket with someone she is bonded to. She likes a treat before bed and has started to see this as a bed time routine. It is very early days for her, we need a home with patience for her.
