This is an incredibly difficult post for us to write, but we feel we need to put our girl's happiness first. All about Edith: She has been with us since birth, and her mum is also one of our cats. She has grown up in a loving family home, around our dog and two children, and has always been well cared for. However, from around 6 months old it became clear that she is a very shy, sensitive cat who doesn't enjoy a busy household or being around children. She much prefers her own space and will often seek out somewhere quiet and peaceful where she can be left undisturbed. Unfortunately, this has also meant that she and her mum will sometimes clash, and we feel that living in a busy family home is no longer the right environment for her. We are therefore looking for a quiet, calm home with no children, ideally with someone who understands that she may need plenty of time and patience to settle and build trust. She isn't a cat who will immediately run over for cuddles. She is very pretty and, when she feels safe and is in a quiet environment, she will happily allow me to give her a lovely scratch behind her ears. We believe that with the right person, the time and space to come out of her shell, and a peaceful home, she could form a really special bond. She has been brought up around a dog and has handled this well from a young age, although we'd want any introductions to another pet to be slow and carefully managed. She will need her vaccinations brought up to date by her new owner. This is not a decision we have taken lightly. We have had her since the day she was born and love her very much. We simply feel that loving her means recognising that our home may not be the environment where she can be happiest. We are looking for a genuinely loving, patient and understanding home where she can have the quiet life she deserves. Her welfare is our priority, so we will want to ask questions and make sure the home is right for her. Please only enquire if you are prepared to give a very shy cat the time and space she needs. 🤍
