Description
š¾ Special Home Needed for Woody š¾
Meet Woody, our beautiful 1-year-old, three-legged Scottish Fold.
We recently rehomed Woody ourselves, but after weeks of veterinary investigations and trying everything we possibly can, weāve come to the heartbreaking decision that we donāt believe our home is the right environment for him.
Since bringing him home, weāve discovered he has medical and behavioural needs that unfortunately werenāt fully disclosed to us when we adopted him.
Woody is currently under veterinary care for a urinary condition. The positive news is that he has made significant improvement. His blood in the urine has resolved, heās much happier in himself, and he has recently started on Royal Canin Urinary S/O, which he will need to remain on as advised by the vet. He will need an owner who is committed to continuing this diet and seeking veterinary advice should he ever have another flare-up.
Woody is missing one of his front legs, but we were never told exactly how this happened. We simply donāt know whether it was a road traffic accident, another type of accident, an attack, or something else entirely. Because we donāt know the circumstances surrounding the loss of his leg, we also donāt know what emotional trauma or triggers he may have experienced before coming to us.
We live in an enclosed apartment complex where there are several resident cats in the communal areas, as well as large nesting seagulls that are extremely noisy throughout the day and night. Because we donāt know Woodyās past experiences, we simply canāt say whether these environmental factors are contributing to his stress.
Weāve noticed that encounters with unfamiliar cats can unsettle him, and we canāt rule out that the constant activity and noise around our apartment may also be affecting him. We genuinely feel he may be happier in a quieter, more peaceful environment where he can fully relax and settle.
Before coming to us, Woody lived with another cat (a female that had kittens), so we canāt honestly say he needs to be an only cat. He may be perfectly happy living with a calm, friendly resident cat after careful introductions. Equally, he may thrive as the only pet in a quiet home. We simply donāt know, and weād rather be completely honest than make assumptions.
Despite everything, Woody is an absolutely lovely cat. Heās affectionate, loves human company, enjoys fuss, has adapted incredibly well to life on three legs, and when heās feeling settled he has a wonderful personality. This decision has absolutely broken our hearts, but itās being made solely because we want him to have the happiest life possible.
We believe Woody would benefit from:
⢠A calm, patient home where he can settle at his own pace.
⢠Someone willing to keep him on his prescribed Royal Canin Urinary S/O diet.
⢠An owner who understands that he may need ongoing veterinary monitoring for his urinary health.
⢠Someone who is prepared to give him the time, love and understanding he deserves.
We are in no rush whatsoever. Weād much rather wait for the perfect home than the quickest one. Woody has already been through enough, and his welfare will always come first.
If you genuinely believe you could offer Woody the loving, permanent home he deserves, weād love to hear from you.
We would also be incredibly grateful if any reputable rescue or rehoming organisation felt they could help us find the right forever home for him. His welfare is, and always will be, our only priority.
