Description

Leo the little pint size boy with a huge personality Leo is just under 5 kilos, 2 years old and currently in Rotherham area. Leo was originally from Cyprus, adopted and flew to the uk in Jan, we quickly learned that a busy family home was just too much for Leo. His past in Cyprus has left some baggage He has since been in Foster with an experience foster and brilliant behaviourists, and Leo has slowly received excellent training He is now ready for his forever home and we are looking for a home near Rotherham where he can continue with his training and support from his foster mum This is about leo ’s been our pleasure to have Leo in for his behavioural assessment in a view to match him with his prospective family. Leo on face value is a small breed boy around 2 years old. Chiuaha mix would be the suspected breed. Temperament: Leo is fun, energetic boy who exhibits wonderful play behaviour. Leo is very much a tactile touch dog and loves to be around people. He is able to take himself off to his bed crate when he has had enough interaction and is self aware in that regard. He is a timid boy with people he does not know and new owners must be fully fledged in reading dog body language (support can be provided ) Walking:Leo came on a collar and lead which I have no issue with but on a whole his walking skills are much better on a slip leash. Due to his size I would recommend this moving forward if the owners are aware on how to use one correctly. leo does understand leash pressure. Other dogs: Walking past other dogs Leo is able to ignore them and carry on the majority of time (on a slip lead) Typically when meeting another dog off lead is very apprehensive and some times confrontational. With time and training this is something that I believe can be worked through. There has been a successful introduction with a number of female large and small breeds dogs of different temperaments Food: No resource guarding behaviour shown around people. Happy to eat anything, food motivated with no allergies. Overall: my opinion is that Leo will thrive in a home with no children. Given his size and sometimes apprehension I would worry that he would struggle with a family dynamic. He has a tendency to bark at children and is very weary of males in general. New owners must be willing to put in some work to gain security around other dogs. He is comfortable spending his days lounging in the garden and human interaction. I would recommend a female only household, or with a gentle male Leo is healthy, vaccinated blood tests and Brucella Canis test
