Description
Shadow is a gorgeous 8-year-old Labrador looking for a very special forever home. ❤️
This is an incredibly difficult decision because Shadow is a much-loved member of our family, but with four young children and a change in our circumstances and poor health we’re finding that we’re no longer able to give him the time and attention he deserves.
Shadow is an extremely loving, friendly and affectionate boy. He is fantastic with children and has lived happily with children aged 1–8. He is completely house trained and has never had an accident in the house. He is generally a very well-behaved, easy-going dog and is not destructive or difficult around the home.
Although Shadow is 8, he still has plenty of energy and is a very strong boy. He pulls on the lead, so anyone taking him on would need to be physically capable of managing him. His recall is improving, but we would still not recommend letting him off lead around unfamiliar people or animals, as he is extremely friendly and wants to say hello to everyone.
He needs at least one good 45-minute walk every day to keep him happy and content. He enjoys getting out and about, but being an older boy he can struggle with very long walks, so a good daily walk rather than hours of exercise is ideal for him.
The main thing we need to be completely honest about is that Shadow currently has significant separation anxiety. He can become distressed and howl when left alone, even for relatively short periods. Because of this, we feel his ideal home would be somewhere someone is home most of the time, such as a retired person, someone who works from home, or a household where he would rarely be left alone.
Shadow has been extremely loved and well cared for, and we want his next home to be his forever home. We are therefore going to be very careful about who he goes to and will ask questions about your circumstances, experience with dogs and daily routine. We would also like to see photos of the home and secure garden before agreeing to anything.
We would genuinely rather keep Shadow than rush him into a home that isn’t right for him. This isn’t about getting rid of him quickly or making money — it’s about finding the right person who can give this gorgeous boy the companionship and lifestyle he deserves.
Please tell us a little about yourself, who lives in your home, your experience with dogs, how long Shadow would normally be left alone and what his typical daily routine would look like.
No time wasters please. This is extremely difficult for our family, and Shadow is very loved, so please only enquire if you are genuinely able to offer him a permanent, loving home. ❤️🐾
