Please kindly read all of this info to see if you think you would be able to offer our beautiful 1 year old baby boy River a loving new home. After much deliberation and heartache we have decided that it would be better for River and our other 4 dogs if we could find a suitable new family to look after him. We purchased him at a considerable cost as a puppy from a breeder who unfortunately wasn’t entirely truthful and failed to give us the correct information about his health and upbringing. We thought we were taking home a thorough bred Cavalier King Charles puppy only to find out that he is a cross with most likely a springer spaniel. We found this out when taking him for his first vet check and we were also rather surprised to learn that he has restrictive vision due to cataracts in both eyes. We have taken him to see an eye specialist who have suggested monitoring his condition but advised against any further treatment or surgery at this time as he seems to be living a normal and active life. He has bundles of energy and loves playing with our other dogs , however he can become boisterous and on occasions has snapped at our other male dog and also us. Therefore due to his unpredictable behaviour we feel it would be best not to rehome him with small children. We do feel though that he does need a canine sister or brother to live with to show him the ropes. River is very soppy and affectionate but his new family will need to be aware that his mood can change very quickly. He loves running off lead in appropriate safe places and his recall is pretty good for his age apart from when he sees birds or squirrels. He is housetrained with just the occasional accident inside. He can be vocal and nervous when not familiar with his surroundings. Sadly our other 4 dogs are older and they are struggling to cope with the amount of energy he has and our work pattern means we can’t give him the opportunity to run off the oodles of frustrations he has. River has been neutered, is up to date with vaccinations and flea/worming treatments. His eyesight is the only health issue that our vet has seen. We would encourage any prospective new family to visit more than once before deciding to take him. Ideally we think his new family could be a couple or family who wouldn’t leave him alone for more than 3 hours, with no small children but should have at least one other canine friend. We would also like to be kept informed of his progress. We are just asking for £300 for River, which is much less than we paid for him last year. He is an intelligent boy and we want him to excel. He will leave with all of our love and the toys, blankets and food that he is familiar with. Paul and Debra
