Description
💔 Due to unfortunate circumstances, I am very reluctantly putting feelers out for my much-loved gelding, Otto. This is a heartbreaking sale, so finding him the right home is my absolute priority.
16hh Knabstrupper x Appaloosa Gelding | 5 Years Old | Quality All-Round Prospect
A quality young gelding with excellent breeding, sired by Tresaison Ricochet ("Rico"), a successful showjumping stallion who has competed at prestigious venues including Hickstead. Otto has inherited Rico's athleticism, scope and willing attitude, giving him all the ingredients to excel as a quality all-rounder or competition prospect.
I have owned and produced Otto myself, giving him a slow, correct start with his full history known. He has never been rushed and has been allowed to mature at his own pace while gaining plenty of life experience, resulting in a genuine, level-headed horse with an exceptional attitude.
For a 5-year-old, Otto has done a bit of everything, including:
• In-hand & ridden showing
• Hunting
• Fun rides
• Beach rides
• Regular hacking over open moorland, busy roads and varied terrain
• Schooling & jumping
He hacks happily alone or in company, is non-spooky, sensible in traffic and very much a "get on and go" type. He has been ridden bareback and bitless, remains snaffle-mouthed at all times and is equally happy enjoying a quiet hack or stepping up a gear for some fun.
Barefoot with excellent feet (previously shod in front), good to shoe, box and travel.
Currently schooling in all three paces and popping a lovely, honest jump. He is still green, exactly as you'd expect from a correctly produced 5-year-old, but is exceptionally willing, trainable and always tries his best. He genuinely turns his hoof to anything asked of him.
Please read before enquiring. Otto is not a novice ride. He is only 5 years old and, like any young horse, can occasionally have a baby brain. He needs a confident, knowledgeable rider to continue his education. In the interest of complete honesty, he can very occasionally throw an excited buck when feeling playful, but there is absolutely no malice in him.
Please, no time wasters or joy riders. This is an incredibly sad sale, and only the very best home will be considered.
