Murray is an incredibly affectionate, loving and happy boy who is always full of excitement. He has a huge personality and endless energy and, quite honestly, often behaves more like a dog than a cat!
He absolutely loves to play and can be quite rough and enthusiastic during playtime, so he needs a home that understands his energetic nature and is happy to give him plenty of toys, enrichment and interactive play to keep both his body and brain busy.
Murray has a particular fascination with hands, arms and pretty much anything you’re using while trying to clean. If something is moving, Murray is convinced it must have been provided for his entertainment and he’ll happily come charging over to join in!
Underneath all that energy is an incredibly loving and affectionate boy who absolutely adores human company. Murray would thrive with someone who wants a proper companion and will enjoy having such a funny, involved and entertaining little character around.
🏠 Indoor Home Required
Murray is looking for a strictly indoor-only home.
Murray has feline calicivirus (calici), a common feline virus which can be passed between cats. Cats can remain carriers even when they are otherwise happy and well, so Murray must remain indoors to help prevent him spreading the virus to other cats in the local area.
If there are existing cats in the home, they must already be fully vaccinated and kept up to date with their vaccinations. We will discuss Murray’s calici status and the suitability of any resident cats with potential adopters before proceeding.
As part of Murray’s application, we’ll also need to see the precautions you have in place to prevent accidental escapes from the home.
His calici status certainly doesn’t stop Murray from being the incredibly happy, affectionate and larger-than-life boy that he is. He simply needs a responsible home that understands his needs and can keep both Murray and other cats safe.

As part of our adoption process, we ask for a short video tour of your home.
Because Murray requires an indoor-only home, we’ll also need to see the precautions you have in place to prevent accidental escapes.
If you already have cats, they must be fully vaccinated and their vaccinations kept up to date due to Murray’s calicivirus status.
Every application is reviewed by a second member of the Penny Paws team.
Once approved, a £50 reservation deposit secures Murray and is deducted from his adoption fee.
🐾 Why Adopt Through Penny Paws?
We’re a volunteer-run rescue dedicated to finding the right home — not just the first home — for every cat.
Every cat receives:
• Veterinary health check
• Microchip
• Flea treatment
• Worm treatment
• Neutering where appropriate
As an independent rescue funded entirely by adoption fees and donations, we don’t routinely vaccinate cats with an unknown vaccination history. We recommend adopters begin a fresh vaccination course with their own vet where appropriate.
