Description
A handsome english pointer. Aged 8.
Rescued in the Balkans but was adopted in 2025. His elderly owner is no longer able to care for all his needs, family are helping but he needs a permanent home.

Current Home: Temporarily with family, including an 11-year-old child.
Personality & Behaviour
Energy Level: Surprisingly active for his age—runs up and down steep outside steps with ease, powerful despite being underweight. Speedy walker along paths - currently not allowed off lead due to recall outisde of contained area - loves to follow his pointer instincts. Can jump into high car boots.
Favourite Activities: Running laps in the garden, watching and trying to catch insects, snoozing in the shade.
Temperament: Happy and content in familiar environments - home, pub, with people he knows. Initially anxious in new homes but settles after 24–36 hours.
Social Preferences: Seems to prefer males, possibly because they have been his main feeders and walkers. Comes for reassurance and occasional strokes but is not a lap dog.
Loki takes himself to bed mid-evening and enjoys a large, flat dog bed.
Lead Training: Has had some professional training to improve on a lead and try to get some recall. Tolerant of teens holding his lead but tends to pull at a fast pace on a waist lead. A fixed lead seems to work better as long as the walker is fairly fit and strong in the core.
Potential: A lovely companion, Very happy to greet you in the morning and when you come back in.
Can be left for 3-4 hours
Health & Diet:
Recent Vet Check: Eyes and heart are in good condition. Recently underwent dental surgery to remove 6 rotten teeth and repair his gums - recovered quickly and well. Up to date with annual vaccinations and has received a booster for flea/worming treatment.
Weight: Currently 22.5 kg, aiming for 25 kg. Slightly underweight but actively building up.
House Trained.
Largely ignores most dogs he meets out and about. Easily tolerates a barky Daschund he's come into contact with over the time.
Cats: Has been in houses with cats for periods of time but shows very little interaction with them.
Ideal Home
We are hoping for patient, understanding owners, willing to work on training and build trust over time. Experience with strong or older dogs would be a plus.
Lifestyle: Suitable for an active or semi-active household that can accommodate his energy, strength, and love for outdoor time. A home with or without other dogs would be fine, but a calm environment is ideal. Fine with childeren 10+, no experience of him with smaller children.
