Description
It is with great sadness we have to rehome our recently rescued German Shepard/Akita mix.
When rescuing him from his previous owner, I was misled on various factors, from his age to his temperament and level of needs.
Since rehoming him we have discovered that Ghost is 7 years old, not five as I was led to believe, and he presents with separation anxiety and some minor behavioural problems.
As we have gotten to know him we have come to realise that his needs are far greater than we are able to meet, and he is not compatible with our day-to-day lives, as we were led to believe he would be.
Ghost needs a new home where his new owners will be able to be with him 24/7, or where they feel able to train him through his separation anxiety. At this tome neither of these options are a possibility for us, and ghost is suffering as a result.
Due to his age it is going to be a challenge to re-train him. I would like to rehome him with a new owner that feels confident in their ability to meet his needs or retrain him.
He has been vet checked, had flea and worming treatments, and has been recently blood-tested.
He was underweight when we took him in but has thankfully managed to gain weight.
Despite his separation anxiety he is a lovely temperament — a big softie that doesn’t quite know his true size! He’s a puppy in an old boys body. Used to babies and children.
We were told he was good with other dogs, from what we have seen he is okay but growls occasionally, this would need work.
He walks nicely on the lead but is very strong and will test boundaries by trying to walk ahead or take his own path.
We have built a strong bond with him and he is loved very much. I want only for him to go to a home where his needs can be met and he can live a happy and fulfilled life. The situation as it stands is unfair on him.
He isn’t neutered and has a microchip.
Please message if you have any questions about him.
