💞 Rubah hasn't failed another home. In fact, this foster-to-adopt has given us one of the greatest ******************s possible—a much better understanding of who Rubah is and what will make her happiest. Now we're looking for the family who'll read this and smile, because they'll realise... "She's exactly the dog we've been waiting for." ❤️
💔 We believed Rubah had found her forever family. They gave her everything we could have wished for—time, patience, understanding and so much love. Sadly, despite everyone's best efforts, it became clear that this wasn't the right match.
As Rubah settled, she became very possessive of her people around the resident dog. Whenever the other dog came for affection, Rubah would push in between them, wanting all the cuddles and attention for herself.
The family love Rubah dearly, but they also love their resident dog. They feel it isn't fair for either of them to live with ongoing tension around human affection, so with very heavy hearts they've made the difficult decision to let Rubah find the home where she can truly be happy.
🐾 Meet Rubah
Rubah is a 3-year-old small girl with a loving personality. Clever, funny, affectionate and full of character, she enjoys exploring, learning new things and making every day an adventure. She may be a little cautious with new people for the first minutes, but she warms up quickly and soon shows just how loving she really is.
✨ Highlights ✨
• SIZE: Small (35 cm / 6–7 kg)
• SPAYED: Yes
• CHARACTER: Clever • Affectionate • Playful • Sensitive • Food-motivated • People-orientated
• DOGS: Best as an only dog, or with a calm, confident resident dog who doesn't seek lots of physical affection from people
• CATS: Not tested
• CHILDREN: Older, respectful children
💔 Rescue Story
Rubah comes from Zaporizhzhia, where the war became part of everyday life. Like many dogs rescued from that region, she experienced uncertainty and upheaval before finally getting the chance to travel to the UK in search of a better future.
Every home teaches us something new about a rescue dog, and thanks to her foster-to-adopt family we now understand Rubah much better. That means we can finally look for the home that truly matches her, giving her the best possible chance of never needing to move again.
🐾 More About Rubah
This is what her family says about her: “Ruby is one of the sweetest dogs we've had the privilege of spending time with. In no time at all she has shown a playful, loving and delightfully cheeky personality. She is definitely a people-focused dog and will happily travel from room to room around the house with you, settling to have a snooze wherever there is someone to keep her company (except the bathroom, for some reason the shower seems to scare her a little bit ). “
She is clever, eager to learn and very food-motivated. She happily sits for treats, knows several commands and is making lovely progress with her training. She is learning to relax when separated by a closed door for short periods and, interestingly, settles much better if she knows you've actually left the house rather than simply being on the other side of the door.
She walks nicely on lead, loves exploring, enjoys soft toys and adores belly rubs. She's house-trained, travels well and is doing brilliantly with crate training.
The biggest thing we've learnt is just how deeply Rubah bonds with her humans. She loves them so much that she wants all the affection for herself. She isn't interested in arguing over toys or food—she simply doesn't enjoy sharing her people with another affectionate dog.
Because of this, we now believe Rubah would be happiest either as an only dog, where she can soak up all the love she craves, or with a calm, confident resident dog who is happy to do their own thing and doesn't constantly seek cuddles and attention from people.
🏡 Ideal Home
Rubah would thrive in a quiet and not busy environment, a home with people who are always around and enjoy walks and including their dog in everyday life.
A secure garden would be ideal, along with a family who will continue using kind, positive training and allow her confidence to keep growing.
We believe she will be happiest as the only dog in the home with playdates with other dogs, although she could also live with the right calm, independent resident dog who won't mind sharing the spotlight.
🩺 Health Information
Rubah is fully healthy, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. All dogs are C.Brucella tested before travel (approved laboratory certificate provided).
