🐾 BEN ❤️ THEY WOULDN’T EVEN ADMIT HE WAS THEIRS… NOW HE NEEDS SOMEONE WHO WILL NEVER DENY HIM Some dogs come into rescue with a story we will never know. Ben came with a story we actually managed to uncover and somehow that made it even sadder. He had been wandering the streets of a busy town, looking completely lost, disoriented and distressed. 💔 For several days, one of our friends kept seeing him. Ben would appear, disappear again, then turn up somewhere else. She began feeding him whenever she could find him, trying to gain his trust and keep track of him. Eventually, when I was able to take him into our care, she managed to catch him and handed him over to me. And off we went to the vets. That was when we got a surprise : Ben had a microchip. For a moment, we thought this lost boy might actually have somebody desperately looking for him. But there was no telephone number registered. I spent half a day trying to trace the person registered as his owner. We contacted local vets and eventually involved the Animal Police - the Romanian authority responsible for animal welfare cases. They visited the registered owners. And incredibly, they wouldn't even admit that Ben had been their dog. Perhaps they were frightened of being fined. Perhaps there was another reason. We will probably never know. What we do know is that the little dog wandering those streets, confused and alone, deserved far better. The necessary transfer has now been completed and Ben's microchip is registered to us. He is safe. ❤️ And from this point onwards, his story changes. 🐶 MEET BEN 🎂 Born: 11 May 2024 ♂️ Male ⚖️ Approx. 12.6 kg 🐾 Medium-small size 🎨 Beautiful rough-coated black, tan and white boy 💗 Affectionate, friendly and gentle And Ben has turned out to be an absolutely lovely dog. After everything that happened to him, he could so easily have become frightened or distrustful. Instead, he seems to have decided that people are still worth loving. ❤️ Ben is good with everybody we have introduced him to: 🐶 Dogs 🐱 Cats 👩👨 Adults 👧 Children He is a friendly, sociable boy who simply wants to belong somewhere. Look at those eyes. There is something wonderfully expressive about Ben's face — a mixture of curiosity, sweetness and that slightly worried little look of a dog who isn't yet completely certain what is going to happen next. We would love to replace that uncertainty with something permanent: “This is my home. These are my people. Nobody is sending me away again.” 🩺 HEALTH & VETTING Ben is now going through his full veterinary preparation. 💉 Vaccinations underway 🪱 Worm and flea treatment as required 🔎 Microchipped — now transferred into our care ✂️ Neutering planned towards the end of August Because we want him properly recovered and ready before travelling to his new family, Ben will be available for rehoming from approximately mid-September. Any remaining required pre-travel veterinary checks and paperwork will be completed before rehoming. 🏡 BEN'S PERFECT HOME Ben doesn't need anything extraordinary. He needs what he should have had all along: A family who means it when they say, “You're ours.” We would love a home where he will be included in family life, taken for lovely walks, given adventures, cuddles, good food, a warm bed and — above everything else — security. A home where losing him would cause panic, not indifference. A home where his microchip will never again be the only evidence that somebody once called him theirs. 🌳 His adopter must have their own secure/private garden. 👧 Although Ben has shown himself to be good with children, as part of our general rehoming policy we do not rehome to families with children under 10. 🐶 A resident friendly dog could be considered. 🐱 A home with cats can also be considered, as Ben has been good with cats. As always, sensible introductions and settling-in time will be important. ❤️ OUR COMMITMENT TO BEN Ben will be rehomed strictly as a loved family pet. He will NOT be rehomed for breeding, guarding, working, assistance or service purposes. A home check is mandatory and can sometimes be completed online. We ask Ben's future family to remain in contact with us. Our responsibility doesn't end when one of our dogs is adopted — Friends InDeed Dog Rescue provides lifelong rescue back-up and support. GB rehoming - transport available almost anywhere on the mainland. Scotland transport available approximately once per month And, as always: ❤️ NO PAYMENT UNTIL YOU MEET ❤️ We want genuine, committed dog-loving homes — not rushed decisions. Ben has already experienced what it feels like to belong to somebody who apparently didn't want to claim him. The next person whose name is connected to Ben should be the person who will love him for the rest of his life. He doesn't know that yet. For now, he's simply the scruffy little boy who was wandering around a busy town wondering where he belonged. But somewhere out there is a garden he'll race around in. A sofa he'll fall asleep on. A person he'll follow from room to room. And one day, somebody will look at him and say: “That's Ben. He's our dog.” And this time, those words will mean forever. ❤️🐾 Could you be Ben's forever? Please get in touch and tell us about the home and life you could offer this beautiful boy. 🐾 FRIENDS INDEED DOG RESCUE Because rescue doesn't end when a dog leaves us - it lasts for life.
