Description

Please text or WhatsApp ************ about inquiries: (Display name will show up as my dad's, but my name is Nadia, we share a Pets4Homes account) I'm heartbroken to say, I am selling my Red Lakeland terrier Ruby, due to no fault of her own. About Ruby: Ruby is 3 years old. She has been with me since she was a puppy. She has grown up around children between the ages of 7 and 17, and gets along great with dogs she's used to. She is fully house/potty trained. That being said, she does have accidents in the house if she is not let outside within a reasonable amount of time, as any dog would. She is very smart, she has never been in a house without a back garden, so she has always learnt where the door to the garden or backyard is, and will jump at it, scratch near it, or whine when she needs to go out. She also learns where the water and food is kept, and let's me know when she's thirsty or hungry by jumping near the tap or fridge. She has the energy levels of a puppy, which may be inconvenient to some people. She is very gentle natured, but can be a bit clumsy or too energetic. I have never owned cats, so I cannot guarantee she would be okay with them, and I strongly advise her to go to a home with no cats just in case. She is a working terrier, from a pure-bred ratting line. She doesn't usually do the toilet on a walk, she prefers to do it in a garden or backyard, she is very fussy about that, so though I'm sure she could be trained to do it on a walk instead, I would preferably want her going to someone with a garden or backyard. Reason for selling: I am 19 years old, and have been made to leave my family home due to some disagreements with one of my parents. My family would not agree to keep Ruby until I could find a place for both of us, so I have been lodging with my sister who is having a baby soon, and who is also highly allergic to dogs. I am also disabled, and when Ruby was bought, I was 16. I was much more able bodied back then, and I could never have known my condition would worsen so much within the spam of 3 years – even though I had my precautions about that, I honestly always thought that I'd live with my parents, so I assumed that even if I did get to a stage where I could not physically manage to look after her on my own, someone in my family would. I was obviously wrong, and I don't think I will ever get another dog because of this. I cannot find a place that allows pets, has a garden, AND fits my medical needs fast enough, and my sister is due to give birth to her child very soon, and having a dog in her home, when she herself is allergic is really not ideal for her, and she has tolerated it longer than she should have. I will also be a full time student in the summer, and now that I won't have anyone to look after Ruby while I'm away studying 4 days a week, it has become unreasonable to try and hold onto keeping her any longer. So in conclusion, my reason is a mix of complications within my own life, and it is not manageable for me to keep Ruby. I love her with all my heart, and I am so saddened by this decision, but I honestly don't have a choice. Either way, long term, if I was living on my own it was never going to work. I should have taken that into account 3 years ago. I am selling Ruby under a contract where if for any reason she needs rehomed again in the future, I am contacted first before she is sold or given away – if I do not respond within 14 days of being contacted, you are free to give her away without breach of contract. And if she was to be returned to me in such situation, it would be for the same price I sold her for. Any questions, please message.
